The new Maharaj Restaurant brings the true taste of Indian Cuisine, combining comfortable dining with sensational food and supreme service. We are a new, family run business who also run the Rajdhaani Restaurant in Kneesall, Newark. With both our restaurants we aim to maintain a unique style of cooking providing signature dishes, whilst providing quality and consistency.

Our carefully crafted menu offers an authentic insight into traditional Indian cuisine with many of our spice blends based on cherished recipes that have been passed down through numerous generations. Tiger Prawns cooked with chunks of onions and peppers with a specialTandoori Sauce-Mild-Medium. Chicken Tikka, Lamb Tikka, Tandoori Chicken and Sheek Kebab cooked with Tandoori Sauce - Medium.

Really disappointing. Ordered to collect for New Years Eve. Ordered 3 different curries which all tasted the same, they were so salty we could barely eat them, most ended up in the bin

Very poor service had to wait 20 minutes for drinks and 45 minites for food. Would say the just eat deliveries took priority and the drivers were stood waiting for orders and customers complaining about takeouts. Conplete choas

New to area and our first Indian takeaway from here. Ordering online was a bit of a faff so will ring next time. Took 1hr 30 mins to be delivered but was a Saturday night. Food was really tasty but wasnt as warm as i would have liked but we do live a fair way from the restaurant but a quick blast in microwave was all it needed.
The order was missing a keema rice and was given a keema nan instead.Will I use again, very probably.

AVOID!
Worst curry me and my family have ever had, and took over 2 hours to be delivered. The chicken was a so dry and the curry was so liquidy.
Ordered 4 currys and 4 naans; parts of the order did not turn up.
The chicken bhuna was a drink rather than a meal, and a bad one at that. Korma looked like my dog had eaten something dodgey. Tandoori chicken was drier than the sahara.

Don't judge a book by it's cover, it's on the main A57 so the road is busy with car parking across the road. But inside excellent decor, lovely staff, and the food, well I'm going back again and again.. l think if you have a party of around 12, you can have your own separate room (but check that with venue)..

Absolutely excellent food and service. Appearances deceive as housed in an old failed pub that could do with some work outside, but what a contrast within. Reasonable prices for the quality of food. As good as found in the West End of London.

Avoid this restaurant. We visited after a lovely trip to Sundown. We were a table of 7, including 3 children. The restaurant wasn't very busy had a few other tables. We asked for 2 more naans, however they never came. When I asked we were told they were forgotten about and that we had made the waiter run around after us! We only asked for some paper and pens for the kids to write on and a few extra glasses, nothing out of the ordinary! I just couldn't believe how rude the waiter was, he then went onto say that he was the manager! Has no clue about customer service. The food was nothing special

I have used the takeaway on many occasions and last time we ordered I ordered lamb for my husband and it was chicken just let it go by but really not keen on chicken ordered again today and the same happened we ate it due to the telephone line busy bear I mind we did order at 16.40 and was delivered at 18.01 , rang after and he said he packed it and was assertive it was lamb, where was the customer service all based on getting the money in , so disappointed
