You need to pass both parts to pass the theory test. If you pass one part and fail the other you will fail the whole test, and you will need to take both parts again. You cannot take practical test until you have passed the theory test. This part of the test requires answering 50 questions randomly selected from a bank of questions based on the syllabus.

It is in the light of the above that the Driving Standards Agency with the help of insurance companies designed the Pass Plus scheme to help new drivers develop existing skills, acquire new skills and techniques so that they can handle the ever changing situation on the road. As part of your practical driving test you will be required to answer two questions to test your knowledge of the car that you are about to drive.
