Our hotel in Pembroke! Business or pleasure - Pembroke's only coaching inn has everything you need to make your stay in the county memorable! The Old Kings Arms Hotel, affectionately known locally as 'The Kings', sits at the heart of the charming walled town of Pembroke.
This traditional Welsh coaching inn has welcomed weary travellers since the 16th century and while it's undergone several transformations and even changed its name - it was The Bunch of Grapes in the mid-19th century - it continues to be a bolt-hole in which to refuel and recuperate.

Services
The deeds of the building go back to 1522, thus we are celebrating the hotel's 500th anniversary of trading in 5 years! However, it's likely there has been a 'hostelry' on the site for as long as Pembroke Castle has stood nearby; the Castle is more than 1000 years old! For a time in the 19th century The Kings was known as The Bunch of Grapes.
The Wheeler family have spent more than half a century perfecting their warm Welsh welcome and it's this, combined with exceptional service and exquisite food, which means The Old Kings Arms Hotel has all the ingredients for a perfect stay. Accommodation at The Kings brings the traditional coaching inn right up to date.
Eat and drink with friendly locals in the historic bar, or enjoy the more intimate setting of our Welsh Kitchen restaurant with its wood and slate floors and a welcoming open fire. A fine place to eat in Pembroke, much of The Kings excellent reputation is thanks to the late George Wheeler who bought the hotel in 1957.
The Kings is just 200 yards from Pembroke Castle, birthplace of Henry VII - founder of the Tudor dynasty. The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and its award winning beaches are also on the doorstep. Listed here is a collection of links to web sites containing information about location attractions, activities and services.
The hotel has a large private car park to the rear of the hotel. On a Sat Nav or Route Finder, use the postcode SA71 4LD and select 'The Parade'. This will direct you close to our car park. Once at the postcode, the car park is only 300 yards further on the left - look out for our car park sign and turn in left just before it.

Terrible service from the onset. The food quality did not reflect the pricing in the slightest. The waiting staff did not voice the foods that weren't on the menu when we were seated. Small portions, veg cold and swimming in water on the plate and "home made skin on fries" evidently from a frozen food store. Manager rude and unapproachable when voicing disappointment of the food. He had a very aggressive tone and was not empathetic in the slightest. Perhaps he needs some customer service training. Avoid if you don't want to waste your time and money. You'll get better food and service in wetherspoons

Couldn’t comment on the food, beer or the pub.
Couldn’t get a table for dinner on Monday night. ( fair enough we were a walk in) popped in for lunch on Wednesday. They don’t do lunch on Tuesday (apparently). Popped in for a drink on Wednesday night. Don’t serve people for just drinks until 9pm! Empty tables must be for decoration only then?

Popped in on the off chance of having a meal after being turned away in 2 previous establishments, and they couldn't do enough for us. Staff were very polite and hospitable and went out of their way to accommodate us. Then there was the meal which was simply gorgeous!! I had the steak and ale pie with the dauphanois potatoes!!👍wife had the gammon and chips. Next time we're in the area we'll definitely be popping back in!! Thanks for the great experience!

What an amazing find. Booked a table for 7 o'clock but decided to change it to 6 o clock even then we arrived early but it wasn't a problem to them they gave us menus to look at over a drink. I chose the hake in herb crumbs and my partner had the belly pork with cracking. They were both amazing. Had sticky toffee pudding for dessert which was one of the best I have ever had.
Staff were so nice and helpful, even when I asked for cream on my pudding instead of ice cream.
This was the best meal we have had since arriving 4 days ago.
