Dix Noonan Webb
Established in 1990, Dix Noonan Webb Ltd are the UK's leading specialist auctioneers and valuers of banknotes, coins, tokens, medals and militaria staging regular auctions throughout the year. Directors Nimrod Dix, Pierce Noonan and Christopher Webb each spent some of their formative years at one or more of the country's leading auction houses and dealers.

They lead an experienced team of in-house specialist staff with over 250 years combined experience, backed up by a worldwide group of knowledgeable representatives and consultants. We held our first auction in 1991. Since then we have sold over 350,000 lots including many important collections and now turn over in excess of 15 Million a year.
Services
For over 25 years, Dix Noonan Webb has specialised in the sale of British and World banknotes, with our auctions featuring notes originating from every corner of the globe - from Abyssinia to Jersey to Zimbabwe.

Our Banknote department brings a collective wealth of over 55 years experience, with our highly respected specialists Andrew Pattison and Thomasina Smith supported by our consultant Michael O'Grady who has been a mainstay of the banknote world since the 1970s.Free valuations and advice is available to any new or existing client on all areas of banknote collecting and anyone who wishes to buy or sell at auction is welcome to contact us.
The team of experts and consultants on the coin side of the business at DNW collectively bring over 260 years'-worth of experience in commercial numismatics to all series of British and World coins, from early medieval to modern. Comprehensive catalogue descriptions are a particular feature of all DNW coin auctions, with weights and die-axes of important pieces recorded so that catalogues have lasting value to students.
Historical and Art medals, for so long the Cinderella series in numismatics, are a wide and diverse series where pieces with a story to tell can sell for as little as a few pounds or as much as tens of thousands of pounds. At DNW we have majored on medals of the 19th and first half of the 20th centuries - the ages of change, of art nouveau, art dco - but we don't neglect medals of the earlier periods.
Our Jewellery and Watch Department holds four specialist auctions a year, including antiquarian, antique and modern diamond, pearl and gem set jewellery, with wristwatches, cocktail watches, pocket watches and timepieces. Included in these sales are associated 'objects of vertu'.

Our specialists are pleased to offer professional, personal and confidential advice to all existing and new clients and warmly welcome enquiries from those considering selling or buying jewellery at auction. We are pleased to advise clients on current auction values, without obligation. The Jewellery department is led by Frances Noble, who is assisted by Rachel Bailey, Laura Smith (currently on maternity leave) and Jessica Edmonds.
The Medal Department at Dix Noonan Webb comprises an unparalleled team of experts, carefully selected and drawn together over the last twenty years.

At DNW we recognise that the term 'expert' does not do justice to the depth of knowledge required in a subject matter that contains within it so many sub-categories and we have therefore, gone about assembling not only the finest team of generalist cataloguers in the business but also the finest team of true specialists within their own particular spheres.

I wanted to highlight my experience with Dix, Noonan & Webb auction house. I approached DNW with an initial inquiry. And they responded promptly with my request to sell my medal collection. Like many actual recipients of awards and medals. There is an emotional attachment and initial hesitation. But I was put at ease by the guidance, authority and knowledge of Mr Pierce Noonan. A very friendly and approachable gentleman. I was requested to send all material relating to my military service and to work with the DNW team in creating a true account of the medals back story. This was to enable the bidder

Best auctioneers to deal with bar none. So many times you buy and its a pain to get items posted but the DNW post room are simply amazing. I purchased an item from an auction on Weds and it was delivered to me on Friday. Always friendly and professional to deal with, highly recommended!

POTENTIAL BUYERS BEWARE! Their staff apparently do not talk to one another, sending you conflicting and irrelevant data about your accounts and standing. They are also at ease forgetting what they said or did in a fortnight. Would be quite fine for a dog and pony show, but engaging in any sort of trade of good and services is done at your own risk. STAY AWAY!!

The 'Real Madrid 'of UK Medal Auctions that
overtook Spink in the late 1990's and now has 65% of the trade . I bought my first medal from them this week ( after 20 yrs away from hobby ) and was impressed with the professionalism . The website snipe system works and is easy to use .
The front office guy Fletch ( coins ) is really nice and took time with my questions . He gave me the time and its appreciated .
The packaging is excellent when they send the Medal with double packing airmail envelope with bubble wrap + cardboard sandwich and PVC medal envelope
Auctions fees are 24% so add to cost

Well they were informed of the scam around Cutterhams CGC yet they still went on with the sale so someone is now paying 140k for a medal that was awarded to someone who lied and bullied his way to getting it in the first place, it won’t be long and this lying cheating scumbag will be stripped of his medal and he will always be known as the soldier who disrespected the memory of every single soldier who died fighting for this country. Disgrace to the regiment also.

Probably the the highest profile auctioneers of medals in the world. The house has an amazing impact on collectors and their provenance is totally respected everywhere. Their commission rates are on the high side and they have led the way in this, now all houses seem to set the same or similar rates. I know as a fact that if you leave a bid with them they will buy it at the cheapest bid, you don't have to worry about things being bid up. Dispatch is swift and all in all it is a great joy dealing with them.

I messaged these about a coin valuation but I was told I need to go to the royal mint for confirmation of the coins authenticity for full value. However they did not give me a maximum value to see if it was worth even confirming the authenticity. Not only that the royal mint do not check authenticity of coins after 1979. Their knowledge seems lacking and their lack of reply suggest this furthermore.

Sold my collection via Dix Noonan Webb. They were absolutely brilliant from start to finish. The items were collected from me, missing ribbons etc. were added, and drafts of the auction listings were sent to me. I was asked if I wished to make any amendments, but only a couple of very minor ones were necessary. In one particular case, they found some background information which I was totally unaware of and which resulted in the sale price nearly tripling. I was able to listen to the auction on the net, with full details of the items on the screen.. The original estimates were mostly exceeded,
