Services
Bruford and Carr are proud of its long-term customer associations and offers a range of traditional support services. These include jewellery design and remodelling, valuations for insurance and probate, repairs, engraving and pearl restringing. We also offer a buying in service for all types of watches, gold, diamond and gemset jewellery.
Bruford and Carr undertake bespoke commissions through our own in-house design team, who guide customers through each step of the process, from concept drawings and gemstone selection through manufacture to completion. We also specialise in the remodelling of old jewellery and take particular pride in breathing new life into important, sentimental but unworn pieces by refashioning them into more wearable contemporary designs.
Bruford and Carr offer insurance valuations for the purposes of insurance and probate. Schedules are meticulously prepared and include photographic images alongside detailed descriptions. Our charges for this service are 1% of the total value for insurance valuations and 1.5% for probate valuations subject to a minimum charge of 75 per item.
We are happy to offer on the part exchange or outright purchase of unwanted jewellery items and are proud of our reputation for giving fair prices. This method of disposal is particularly beneficial to the vendor in avoiding the high commission charges imposed by auction houses, which typically account for over 30% of an item's value.
Bruford and Carr's skilled craftsmen will expertly repair, clean or refurbishment most jewellery items. Charges begin at 50, which will cover the simple re-sizing of a ring or the re-stringing of a single row pearl necklace. Most insurers insist that jewellery is checked on a regular basis for wear and tear to settings, which may jeopardize the security of gemstones.
