Scottish Friendly
Keep in mind stock market investments can go down as well as up and you could get back less than you've invested. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and tax rules could change in the future. Tax-free means the investment grows free from tax, with the exception of any tax we've already paid on your behalf (for example on dividends from UK shares).

At Scottish Friendly, we believe saving and investing should be open to everyone, that's why we have a range of products you can tailor to suit your needs. With a range of fund options to help you invest in the way you feel comfortable, you're in control of the level of risk you take. With our Investment ISA you can set up different 'pots' to ring-fence your money and keep track of your different savings goals.
Services
We're proud to be one of the largest mutual life offices in the UK - and one that's been around for over 150 years. Established in 1862 as the City of Glasgow Friendly Society, the name Scottish Friendly Assurance was adopted in 1992. This followed the transfer of business from a Scottish-based mutual.
At Scottish Friendly we believe saving and investing is for everyone. As one of the largest mutuals in the UK - and one that's been around for over 150 years - we have a wealth of experience and expertise at our fingertips. The reasons to invest will likely be different depending on who you're putting money aside for.
Having savings and investments that you can rely on means that you're calling your own shots, with the freedom to make choices in your life separate from earning a monthly pay cheque. Whether it's a vintage Jaguar you're after, or a basic hatchback to get you from A to B, having a fund saved up can help get you moving.
At Scottish Friendly we believe everyone should be able to save and invest for their child's future to help them take their first footsteps into adult life. They'll likely want a flashy sports car, but a basic hatchback will get them from A to B. Having a fund saved up can help get them moving. Whether it's money towards fees or supporting their student lifestyle, they'll call on you to fund some cash while they hit the books.
If you've decided to start investing, there are a few different ways for grandparents to do so. You could set aside some money for a grandchild yourself using your own ISA allowance. Or contribute to a Junior ISA, if your grandchild already has one. If they don't already have a Junior ISA, you can help to kick-start a Junior ISA application with us, by giving their parent or guardian a friendly nudge.

Called chasing my daughters policy payout which matured on the 1st October 2021. We sent the original form by post. After not hearing anything by December i called again and was told to email it because it hadn't been received. I emailed it on 23rd December at 9.30am and got a standard email receipt saying it would be dealt with in 10 working days. My daughter received a letter dated 13th January saying that they still haven't received the completed form for payout. I called this morning and despite it saying i may have to wait for as long as 20 minutes it was answered after 30 minutes of Take

DO NOT SIGN UP!!
Avoid the same disappointment I have experienced.
1 hour waiting time, only to face the same issues, both the app and card is pointless if no one can't fix the problem.
Will be deleting and taking my money elsewhere.

I thought I was losing my mind dealing with this lot, ive had too many poor experiences to share, so it gives me a shred of comfort knowing im not alone. How theyre still able to trade/operate is the real head scratcher.Reading other peoples reviews below, its clear there is something faulty with this company.Gone to the Ombudsman and hopefully get some sort of reply.

Poor service. Had two endowment policies with them and both times a delay in receiving the pay out at end of term. In fact this second one if the cheque doesn't arrive tomorrow will be classed as lost. How do they manage this twice? I think they are delaying pay outs on purpose. We were in touch with them months beforehand. Delay in getting claim form. Then delay in receiving claim form, even when we had confirmation from Royal Mail - as it was signed for. So, two in a row. We have a mortgage to pay for and they have still to send the check when the endowment matured at beginning of November. Unreliable

My husband has been trying for 18 months to get accurate pension figures. Even our IFA can’t get an answer and this started long before they could hide behind Covid. Ombudsman next we think

So Poor customer service where operaters tell you lies over the phone and managers none excistant and not available to reach sensable decissions. Although informing that its the Finaical ombidesman who has told you ut has been passed on to them.
You Speak to 7 operaters one twlls you it take 24- 48 hours to process your claim to be authrised and processed. And only one tells you exactley what is happening to your money. (Others tell you its processed posted)So Raised a complaint told it would be dealt with within 5 working days for you. So get cut off by some operators and ignored by others, Not
