Back in 1918, our 10 founding fathers met in Leicester to form what became the Institution of Fire Engineers. Fast forward 100 years we are a global professional membership body with over 10,000 members worldwide, delivering over 6,000 exams annually. Along with our branches we will be marking our 100th anniversary with a number of events throughout the year.
The IFE hosted a successful workshop bringing together key stakeholders from the sector and government to focus on the theme of the future of fire risk assessments. Voting members of the IFE can now cast their vote in the 2021 Board of Directors election. As we celebrate the 8th International Women in Engineering Day today, we are excited to announce the launch of the IFE's new Women in Fire Engineering Networking Group.
Volunteers are a driving force within the IFE. From reviewing applications and examinations to sitting on committees, they volunteer their knowledge and expertise to help maintain the high standards that build confidence in our professionalism and practice.
