Part of having healthy teeth is ensuring you book in for regular dental check-ups, but there are times when you can see a hygienist rather than a dentist. A hygienist is specially trained in looking after the health of mouth, teeth and gums.
If your tooth has become broken, badly decayed or damaged in such a way that a filling is not strong enough to support the tooth, then a crown (also known as a 'cap') may be recommended to cover the existing structure and restore function and appearance.

I've been with Sherwood Dental for about 10 years. I highly recommend the practice, and specifically Dr Snehali Patel who has transformed my experience as a patient. Thanks to her friendly approach and discreet way of working, I no longer feel anxious receiving dental treatment as I have done in the past. Communication from Sherwood Dental is always clear and reliable, with reminders sent out ahead of each appointment. It's a great little practice with a family feel.

I had a few fillings and my dentist talked through exactly what was happening at each stage to put me at ease. I had some pain in one of my teeth weeks later and they fitted me in straight away to have it checked (nothing was wrong).
Overall fab service and I think would really suit someone who has a fear of going!

I needed an emergency dentist, Sherwood gave me an appointment the same day After an assessment and x-rat they advised that I needed 2 extractions and they squeezed me in the same day. I have nothing but praise for the whole experience - professional, caring, friendly, efficient are hardly strong enough words to describe what the whole process with them. I hope that they continue their strengths to grow. Good luck and thank you

Took my two children to the dentist today and the staff there were very lovely and nurturing with them. Gave them some stickers to reduce their anxiety and were very patient when we went into see the Dentist. Staff also agreed for my husband to rejoin the surgery after a period of absence which was helpful so now we can all go together. Thanks very much.

This is the beat dental practice in Nottingham and I have tried a few!
I am an extremely nervous patient so I don't say this lightly.
Firstly the receptionists are lovely. So friendly and helpful if you need to call with a query and very welcoming in the practice. This is so important when you are petrified!
My dentist is Mr Mayur Patel. He is the most caring reassuring and encouraging dentist I have ever seen. He explains everything as he goes along and is very gentle and understanding of anxieties. He doesn't rush you and is really friendly.
This is a brilliant practice and I highly recommend

Friendly, professional staff who provide a great service!
Having not been to the dentist in about 10 years, I was quite nervous at first but Dr V Patel immediately put me at ease. The work that I needed doing was broken into manageable sessions and he was highly professional and reassuring each time. I would highly recommend!

Our family have been using this dental practice for many years. No one looks forward to visiting the dentist, but the staff here are very friendly and helpful. The dentist's and hygienist themselves are very professional and make the whole process as painless as possible!
