Mason Accountancy
Mason Accountancy is an independent firm of accountants offering a friendly and professional accounting and bookkeeping service to individuals, sole traders and small businesses across the South Hams. We understand how complicated accounting can be, which is why we strive to make matters as easy as possible for you.

We specialise in many areas of accounts and tax preparation, and are equipped to handle whatever issues or situations you are facing. We particularly aim to provide support and advice to new start ups, and individuals wishing to venture into the world of the self-employed.
Services
We provide a full range of accounting and financial management services, from simple bookkeeping, to annual accounts preparation and completion of annual tax returns, and at the same time ensure the complex world of accountancy is made as simple as possible. We invest time in getting to know our clients, encouraging an open and approachable dialogue.
There are a number of deadlines and responsibilities that tax payers need to be aware of, and completing a filing a tax return can be complicated. We can take that worry away from you, and by acting as your agent, deal directly with HMRC on your behalf, leaving you time to concentrate on running your business.
Your accounts are a valuable source of financial information which help support decision making and forward planning, and are a useful tool should you wish to raise finance or apply for a mortgage. As your business grows, your accounting needs also grow. From your book-keeping records, we can prepare your year end accounts, which helps to form the basis of your tax return.
You must register for VAT with HM Revenue & Customs if your annual turnover goes over the current threshold for registration on a rolling 12 month period. With VAT registration comes a number of responsibilities and deadlines. You usually submit a VAT return to HMRC every three months; you must submit a return even if there is no VAT to reclaim.
Routine bookkeeping can be time consuming, and unless kept on top of, can quickly become out of date. Accurate records are essential, not only for the preparation of your annual accounts and tax computations, but also to help you manage and control your finances. As your business grows, the burden of keeping accurate records can increase, as volume increases.
