MarstonHarbottle is the successor practice of Travis Marston & Co which was set up by Jane Marston and Andrew Travis in 1982. Ruth Harbottle joined Jane and Andrew in 1998 and became a partner in 2002. Andrew Travis left the practice in 2006. Jane Marston retired as a Partner in 2010, but remains with the Firm as a Consultant.
The firm was originally housed at 44a Priestpopple, Hexham, Northumberland, moving to larger and roomier offices as the firm expanded in 1991 at Orchard House, Priestpopple, Hexham. Andrew Travis and Jane Marston set up Travis Marston & Co in 1982, having moved from York where they had both worked for different firms and had specialised in litigation and appearing in Court. Ruth Harbottle joined as a partner in 2002. Ruth obtained her law degree at University of Newcastle and was a partner in the Newcastle firm of Hay and Kilner before joining Travis Marston in 1998.
The above fees assume that it is a standard transaction and no unforeseen matters arise. These could include for example a defect in the Legal Title, a need for an Indemnity Insurance Policy, for a Statutory Declaration or other documents ancillary to the main transaction, or the matter becoming prolonged or more complicated than originally anticipated.
