A Children's Hearing is Scotland's unique system for protecting children and young people, through a decision making lay tribunal called the Children's Panel. The Children's Hearing system can be daunting for those involved, particularly for the first time. The Children's Hearings (Scotland) Act 2011 provides a set of rules and guidelines that Children's Hearings must follow.
Most of the time people are well enough to know that they need treatment for poor mental health. Sometimes the result of an illness is that an individual does not think he or she needs care and treatment. Mental health law says that if a person is at risk because of his or her mental illness, and if treatment could help, professionals have a legal duty to provide that care and treatment.
The making of a permanence order extinguishes the parental rights to have your child live with you, and allows the local authority to regulate where your child will live. Our Solicitors can help protect your rights when the local authority tries to remove them. If you have been told that rehabilitation is no longer an option, it is essential that you seek legal assistance.
