The Company was founded in 1971 by Alan Lambert in a small factory unit located in St. Albans, Hertfordshire. Alan Lambert had gained his experience in the industry as an apprentice working at the Electrical Apparatus Company (EAC) and finally as an electrical engineer / draughtsman with the same organisation before spending two years working for the EAC in its South African subsidiary.
Upon his return to the UK he worked for Switchboards Limited, a subsidiary of the EAC. He ultimately moved to a local panel builder as a Sales Manager before founding Alan Electrical Limited in 1971. Alan Electrical Limited was originally staffed by ex-employees from the EAC who were a large manufacturer of switchgear and motor control.

Established in 1971, Alan Electrical Limited has become one of the UK's leading manufacturers of LV switchgear. The Company has maintained its reputation by continual investment that allows it to produce switchgear which has been type tested to the latest international standard IEC 61439-2. Fully equipped sheet metal manufacturing facility with CNC machinery to fabricate sheet metal enclosures.
In order for the management team to maintain complete control of the manufacturing process, most stages are managed in-house from the initial concept design through to installation and commissioning. The only part of the manufacturing process sub contracted to a specialist contractor is the powder coating of the sheet metal enclosures.
The Company is one of the country's leading manufacturers of LV switchgear which has been designed in accordance with the requirements of IEC 61439-2 and type tested at ASTA certified test laboratories. The Company's range of custom built modular switchboards are available from 1250A to 6300A with fault ratings up to 100kA for 1 second.
Package sub stations are manufactured to match the Company's LV switchboards to provide a complete MV / LV package. They are available up to 4MVA and can be either standalone or close-coupled to the LV switchboard. HV Incomer: Options are ring main units (RMU), circuit breakers or switch disconnectors which can be close-coupled to the transformer.
The Company's range of PDUs can be designed in any configuration to meet the client's specification. The PDUs range from 100A to 800A and are used for such applications as Data Centres and Comms Rooms in large commercial undertakings. Static Supply Transfer Switches: Manufactured by Socomec or equal complete with door mounted mimic.
