Steve Lavender is the owner and operator of Lavender Electrical, and has a passion for all things electrical. After leaving school, Steve began his electrical career as an apprentice with S. J. Dark Limited, a well established local Torbay electrical company. While under their careful and diligent guidance, Steve gained invaluable experience in many types of installation, including domestic wiring, nurse call systems and fire alarms.
From 1986-1987, Steve passed his 2361 and 2362 Electrical Installation City and Guilds exams. He left S. J. Dark soon after and embarked on a contract based spell of employment that was to span a period of ten years, mostly working away from home and travelling around the country.

Services
I have nothing but praise for Steve; he is an electrician to the highest standard, on time, polite, friendly and very tidy. Steve Lavender is a certified Torquay electrician and the owner and operator of Lavender Electrical, a family based company providing electrical services to Torquay, Paignton, Brixham and the surrounding Torbay area.
There are two major branches of electrical installation; commercial and domestic. While there are many common electrical applications between the two, the rules and regulations often differ, so it is crucial that the electrician understands and has experience with the specific job at hand.
Lavender Electrical has extensive experience in all types of residential and industrial installation, including planning and design, upgrades, and emergency call-outs.On some jobs, Lavender Electrical is also able to perform tiling and plumbing (using solder joints) to a similar high standard to their electrical installations.

Fail to plan and plan to fail. The old adage holds true no matter the task at hand. But in the electrical world, failures due to poorly planned work can result in anything from inconvenience to loss of property to even loss of life. That is why there are strict rules and regulations governing what can be done and by whom.
As with all planning, a budget is key, plus a little wiggle room (say 20%) for the surprises. No-one likes surprises, but they are generally a fact of any renovation, and if you're financially prepared for them they are whole lot easier to swallow.
The plan should cover everything you want the electrician to do (not how - leave that to the pros) and it should be for a considerable amount of time - 25 years is a reasonable expectation since that is typically how often a house rewire is required.Sketch a picture, as that can help visualize the goal.

When planning the layout of your home's interior, lighting should be a major consideration, as it can mean the difference between a cold, uninviting space and a warm, cozy nook. The amount of light and the location of light sources must be chosen carefully, and there are certain rules of thumb that need to be followed in order to illuminate your space in the most aesthetically pleasing and effective manner.
