John Lowery purchased Askam Civil Engineering from Askam Construction Limited in 2014 and formed Askam Civil Engineering Limited, Askam Construction being a company he had originally formed in 1986 in order to fulfil his first civil engineering project.
The company now offers a broad work-base and having initially built an enviable reputation as a civil engineering contractor, we have grown and expanded our services to include; rivers and waterways, energy and renewables, highways and infrastructure, industrial and commercial, clean and waste water and public realm.

Services
We are based in the North West and work throughout the UK. We currently have over 40 directly employed skilled staff and benefit from our own dedicated plant hire department. We have grown and expanded our services to include industrial, commercial works, public realm, highway and infrastructure and all the while we work in a close partnership with a majority of our clients, this way we can ensure their vision is brought into fruition.

We are conscious that every aspect of the construction process, from head office to site operations and the actions of its people, has an effect on the environment that we operate.
We operate a management system, which is fully compliant to the current legislative requirements of construction operations. This system is in accordance with the requirements of ISO 45001:2018. Askam's excellent health and safety record is a credit to every member of the company understanding the role they have to play and taking responsibility for everyone's health, safety and welfare - from Ground Worker to Managing Director.
Industry leading quality is assured on all of our civil engineering projects. We are BS EN ISO 9001:2015 certified and operate a quality management system in accordance with this standard. Each of our projects has a bespoke quality plan and a specific test and inspection plan, ensuring that every aspect of the works is subject to rigorous quality control.
Askam Civil Engineering was founded on water based civil engineering projects and as time went on the work broadened to the diversity we enjoy today. Clients include; Canal & Rivers Trust, Ribble Rivers Trust, British Waterways and The Environment Agency.
Our specialism is work on Service Reservoirs, which few companies will tackle as this type of work demands a very high control of work methods so as to avoid contamination of the drinking water, which is fed directly into the domestic system.Askam has carried out many such projects for work on Service Reservoirs throughout the North West.
