Mark qualified at Sheffield in 1997, followed by an initial spell practising in a hospital for two years. He has been practising in private dentistry since 2000, first in Tamworth, now at Hughes & Owen Dental Care, Swadlincote. Married to Clare Watson, a dentist in the same practice, he is a family man and when not at work, can be found mountain biking or road cycling.

The Burton practice was established in 1933, originally situated on the High Street in Burton. The practice moved to its present location at Priory House in 1972. We aim to provide high-quality treatments in our two practices in Burton-on-Trent and Swadlincote in modern and caring environments. We aim to treat patients as individuals and will always have time to listen to questions with kindness, courtesy and patience.

Hughes and Owen in Swadlincote are a fantastic dentist. If you’re like me you may not like going to the dentist , but at H&O all the staff from reception, hygienists, dental nurses and dentists alike are super-friendly.
What’s more, is they are highly professional and a very capable high performance team. All the staff work collaboratively and gel together.
H&O in Swadlincote is a brilliant dentist practice. I highly recommend them.
Clare Watson is my dentist and she is awesome and so highly skilled too.

Worst service I have ever experienced from a customer facing receptionist. I became a Charles & Owen customer when I first moved to the area several years ago and left them for the exact same reason.
Their reception staff (Linda in particular) need training on how to speak to customers. She was rude, uninterested in my call and when I asked to… speak to Mrs Owen (my actual dentist) she said I can’t and will need to speak to the practice manager instead. I have been paying a monthly practice plan, missed an appointment when I was on holiday in Brasil, which I maintain I never made

We have been with Hughes & Owen at Swadlincote for several years now and have always found all the staff to be friendly and helpful, especially our dentist Mark. I had a broken tooth fixed by him today and the whole process from calling this morning to book the appointment, to having the tooth fixed was stress free and painless, cannot thank them enough, excellent service throughout.

Most rude receptionist I've dealt with in a while. Very unhelpful. After I asked for a price for something the answer I got was "not really" and after asking general questions about appointment the very sarcastic answer was "we are a dentist you know". I was calling with a query and I wasn't rude at all and at the end she slam the phone down on me.
