We are delighted to have been one of the first four firms in the country awarded membership of the law society's conveyancing quality scheme. This is the first time I have used Martin Elliott and wish I had used them the first time around!. Thank you for your consideration and professionalism shown in the handling of the estate of my late father.
I cannot praise all of the team enough. This was by no means an easy property sale but you handled it exceptionally well and very professionally. Couldn't have asked for a better service in a difficult house sale. Established since 1992, we are a local law firm in Colchester, Essex offering legal services in residential conveyancing, wills and probate and lasting powers of attorney.

Services
Martin Elliott established the firm in 1992 and has worked hard ever since providing personal and friendly legal advice to the people of Colchester and nearby. Martin is a Solicitor and has been in practice since 1982, originally as a Partner in another firm and since 1992 on his own account as Martin Elliott & Co. Martin specialises in property and private client work and when not at work, is absolutely radical on a pair of skis!
We carry out all the legal work involved in buying and selling your property. Our services also include dealing with remortgages, gifts of property, transfers of equity, and lease extensions. When your buyer's lawyers confirm that they are instructed by your buyer we will send them the draft contract papers.
Dealing with a death is never easy. At such a difficult and upsetting time we will do everything we can to make the process of administering the estate as straightforward as possible. If you have been appointed an executor of a will, or a family member has passed away without leaving a will, please contact us to see how we can help you.
Thinking ahead to a time when you are no longer here can feel uncomfortable and upsetting which is perhaps why so many people put off making a will. However, planning ahead for the future of your family and loved ones is probably one of the most important decisions you can make. If you pass away without a will then your estate will be subject to the laws of intestacy and could result in your assets being passed to someone that you didn't intend.
A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is a legal document by which you can authorise a person or persons you trust (your attorney(s)) to manage your property and financial affairs or health and welfare matters on your behalf. This gives you more control over what happens to you if you have an accident or illness which prevents you from making your own decisions.

The conveyancing service was carried out as above. The property was my first sale and was dealt with entirely by Royal Mail Post and also email. It was also fairly quickly done given the Covid - 19 constraints on doing business during the time.

We were very happy with the service received, Megan answered all of our queries quickly and was always easy to get hold of. As first time buyers Megan made the process as easy and stress-free as it could be - up until exchange of contracts, we heard from Megan nearly every day with progress updates, meaning we always knew where we were in the process. We found the summary letters - highlighting key points - very helpful when reading the related documents. Thank you to Megan and Martin for completing our purchase. Wouldn’t hesitate to use Martin Elliott & Co again.

Martin Elliot and the team were very helpful and proactive when acting as our conveyancer for our first home purchase. Although the end of the stamp duty holiday was looming and having to deal with unresponsive solicitors from the sellers, the purchase was made very quick and we were kept informed throughout the whole purchase, rarely going more than a week without an update on progress. Would recommend and use again.

During a very difficult time Martin and his team worked efficiently and effectively for us. Our house sale and purchase were handled with speed, all staff had a high degree of knowledge, and every member of staff we spoke to was kind and understanding. Most importantly we were kept appraised at all times. A warm thank you to every member of Martin Elliott Solicitors, we will recommend your services at every opportunity.

Martin Elliot was directly responsible for throwing an elderly woman out of her own home and defrauding her of her posessions for his childhood friend's benefit. Avoid this business if you have any moral objections to theft, fraud and ruining lives.
EDIT: Martin had my previous review removed as he no doubt wants to cover up his crimes.
