A Will is a legal document that determines how your assets (property, money and belongings) are dealt with when you die. Although we are called Probate Solicitors we are of course also well-versed in the preparation of Wills, Codicils and Trusts as these of course are based on the very same area of law.
A will is a written, legal document which describes in detail how you would like your assets and estate to be dealt with after your death. It is your opportunity to decide who will benefit and in what way. It is easy to put off making a will but the importance of a carefully drafted will cannot be underestimated.
Only about one third of the population has made a will yet it is one of the most important documents that everyone should have. The consequences of dying without a will fall hardest on those left behind. If you have family, friends or if you would like to donate money to charity then the only way to make sure your assets go to the people you want is to make a will.
Intestacy is the formal word to describe the situation when someone dies without a will - they are said to have died "intestate". When this happens the law (Administration of Estates Act 1925) governs the way the estate is distributed. Even if a person has a will they could still die "partially intestate" if their will doesn't deal with the whole of their estate, for instance if a beneficiary has died before them.

Highly recommend. Needed specialist advice so shopped around. Caroline was first to respond and maintained excellent response times combined with really good, friendly advice, taking time to explain the finer legal details and happy to answer any questions. Work completed promptly and was excellent value-for-money. Intend using Probate Solicitors again.

Changing solicitors is a minefield, not knowing what you are going to get before you commit. I had the need to do this when my earlier solicitor retired. Having selected Probate Solicitors and since experiencing their service I feel confident I made a good choice. Their service to me has been wholly satisfying and I have been pleased with every aspect of it. I am prepared to confidently recommend them to others.

I had a choice of a couple of local solicitors to deal with a probate matter and the quotes were almost identical.
I chose PSL as they seemed to be specialists.
The matter was dealt with in a friendly but very professional manner and despite minor problems occurring beyond their control, it was followed up with vigour. I was kept fully updated on all actions being taken and the matter concluded with consideration given to the time delays which were not of their making.
I would thoroughly recommend them

After an initial f2f meeting everything was carried out remotely (Covid 19 times) with the exception of the witnessing of signatures. PSL came to us and, fortunately, it wasn't raining so, all socially distanced at our front door!
Excellent, hassle free and professional service throughout our will and LPA set up and "execution".
Thanks Caroline and Kelly!
Unreservedly recommended!

The advice and assistance we received from Caroline as executors of a will were first class. This was sometimes a difficult and onerous task but we received excellent, sound guidance and always felt that she would be there to help. Any queries were always answered promptly and nothing was too much trouble. Caroline was friendly, approachable and professional and we would have no hesitation in recommending PSL Solicitors.
