A Will is perhaps the most important legal document you make during your lifetime. This is because it sets out what you would like to happen to your property and possessions after you die. Tierneys Solicitors are expert Will Writing Solicitors. If you die and don't make a Will, then your estate may not necessarily benefit those that you had intended.
When someone dies, the law, naturally steps in to protect that person's property and ensures that it is properly dealt with, this is called their "Estate". In most cases it is necessary to obtain a Grant of Representation from the Court, whether the person who has died left a will or not. The Grant allows the appropriate person to deal with the Estate.
Powers of Attorney are special legal documents allowing a close friend or relative to look after your personal and financial affairs, should you no longer be able to do so. If an individual is judged by the court to be no longer able to make decisions for themselves and a Power of Attorney is no longer possible, then an application can be made to handle an individual's affairs through the courts.

When my father needed to gain power of attorney over my mother's funds (due to Alzheimer's) he was recommended Zac and his "team" and decided to use them. My dad was to have power of attorney with me as a co-signatory, however, what came back from the courts was Court of Protection in my name with my dad as co-signatory. In the time this process took, my dad was struck with dementia and is also in a home. I'm now unable to pay the bill (from my mother's funds) because my dad can't sign his name, and even though it was my father that hired Tierney's, it looks as if I'm going to have action taken
