Royal Marine Hotel
Originally built in 1856 as The Marine Hotel and receiving Royal patronage in 1872, this truly stunning Tudor style building which is listed by Scottish Heritage, has a rich history which we would be delighted to share with you.

Gutted by fire in 1888, the Royal Clyde Yacht Club (who purchased the hotel in 1875) engaged the services of famous architect T.L. Watson to design the new building which was opened in 1890 and re-named The Royal Marine Hotel. We are delighted to offer a variety of accommodation to suit every budget & guest ranging from cosy single rooms to premier sea view rooms.
Services
The Royal Marine Hotel is located in an unspoiled area of Scotland where there are an abundance of interesting walks and hiking opportunities such as Pucks Glen and The Cowal Way. To relax, there are pleasant strolls available through the Benmore Botanic Garden & the pretty Victorian town of Dunoon to explore with numerous independent shops and the historic pier area.
We are delighted to offer a variety of accommodation to suit every budget & guest ranging from cosy single rooms to premier sea view rooms. Breakfast is always included. Please refer to our 'Special Offers/Blog' section for promotions.

Again we would highlight that the hotel has no lift access so please make staff aware of any mobility issues at your time of booking to allow us the opportunity to accommodate you within a ground floor room of our Lodge House. We are also able to provide celebration packages for your room for any special occasions at an additional fee based on your requirements.
The Kintyre Bar & Restaurant is open daily from 12.00hrs for a relaxing beverage by the fire and informal dining. Our Events Co-ordinator will create a bespoke package for you, tailored to meet the requirements of your celebration, event or conference.

We offer several options catering to all sizes of groups ranging from private dining in the Stewart Room to weddings/civil marriages and conferences in the Kilcreggan Room or the spacious Kintyre Bar & Restaurant which comes complete with its very own dancefloor.Weather permitting we have the Ghillies bar with beer garden for drinks and informal/light al fresco dining or indeed a stylish afternoon tea/glass of wine on The Terrace.

Steer clear of this place is my advice. Might have been good in it’s day under previous owners, but genuinely my stay was the worst I have ever had. I booked here last minute due to a family bereavement. After being awake for 3 days, all I wanted was a comfy bed, with some warmth and hot water for me and my young boy and wifi to keep him occupied. No hot water, next to no heating, no wifi signal and the room was extremely dirty, later we found a rodent trap behind a unit. I spent around 2 hours in the room, during wich I complained about this. I asked for a refund and got told where to go. So

Owner was very friendly. Rooms were spotlessly clean. Booked 2 budget rooms but one was upgraded to a standard room. Both rooms were fab. Children disappointed that WiFi was limited. Would definitely go back.

Nice hotel and staff. Quite quiet. Handy for the ferry but disappointing as the bus no longer goes into Glasgow

Staff were nice and friendly and happy to please. But the hotel itself was past its best very run down. Food was standard but never had much to choose from and lots off the menu. Think it needs a huge cash injection and overhauled. If just looking for cheap and cheerful or a bed for the night.

We had booked rooms for 2 adults and 2 children but we made a mistake and added 2 rooms for 2 adults. When we reached the hotel they were very helpful. That night they asked us to accommodate ourselves with one double bedroom and gave us an additional cot. After the check out hours next day they moved us to a big and beautiful sea view room. They really tried to make us very comfortable. It's such a beautiful property with great potential. Yes it needs more work and they were trying the best to manage with less staff, but I think they did an amazing job.i will stay there again for sure and want

Our rooms were newly carpeted and freshly decorated. Beds comfortable. Breakfast good. Staff very helpful and friendly. Good parking at the hotel which is literally a stone throw from the ferry at Hunter's Quay. It took us 45 minutes to walk into the centre of Dunoon and £7.00 for the taxi back.

Lovely hotel to stay and relax. We had a very big bedroom with a bed bigger than i have ever seen before. Very friendly and helpful staff. Both our breakfast and dinner in their restaurant was very tasty.
Plenty of free off road parking.
Just opposite the ferry terminal so very convenient for ferry crossings

A warm welcome and friendly staff. The building is old and is in the process of being renovated. The Scottish breakfast was served piping hot and very tasty. My room adequate. Wasn't serviced though with refreshment refills etc. Bed linen was passed its best and mattress lumpy. The hotel location was good for exploring and sits directly opposite the ferry port which can be viewed from the dining room. On the whole, it was good value. I wish the proprietor well with the upkeep and moving forward. I would stay again.
