Stepping Stones Nursery is situated in a quiet location in Consett, close to all major road links. We are Derwentside's only non-profit making co-operative nursery. This means that all profits are invested back into the Nursery, to the best benefit of the children. Established in 1997 our qualified and experienced staff are committed to ensuring your child has a fun and educational time with us.
I have loved working at Stepping Stones Nursery for 14 years, watching every child grow from a baby into a lovely, happy and confident child as they say goodbye to us on their next big journey to school. I really enjoy watching the children develop throughout their time in nursery. I love messy activities, such as Flubber - it is so sticky and gooey!
Children are cared for in small groups with a key person assigned to each child. This key person oversees the care of your child until they move up into the next age group. All of our staff are always happy to speak to parents/carers, whose involvement is actively encouraged. Regular parent evenings are held for reviews on your child's development with their key person, as well as social events.
Before your child starts we will arrange at your convenience, at least three introductory free visits. Usually one hour - you will stay with your child in the Nursery and meet staff and other children. Your child will remain with their key person for one-two hours and you may leave the Nursery during this time.
