At first work ranged from window fitting to small extensions. Word of mouth soon spread and we became inundated with requests to undertake work for local people & businesses. A small workforce was soon being regularly employed to cope with demand. In 1995 we won the Master Builder of the year award for the Yorkshire & Trent region for a sympathetic external renovation & internal refurbishment of 6 weaver's cottages in Slaithwaite.
From humble beginnings in the spare bedroom the business soon expanded and more suitable premises were sought, purchasing the current site at Britannia Mills Huddersfield. This has provided us with ample office accommodation & secure storage facilities. Now Barker Construction has 20 employees, all local tradesmen with extensive knowledge of all aspects of the building trade.
