Services
I qualified as a dentist in 1995 at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa. Since graduating I have been in full time employment, as a general dental practitioner in the UK. I've lived and worked in North London, Norwich, Sheringham and the Falkland Islands. In 2008 we came across Southwoods Dental Practice.
If you have a dental emergency during our normal opening times, please call the surgery and we will aim to fit you in with an emergency appointment. If you need urgent dental treatment outside our normal hours, please call the dental emergency service on 01935-421249. If you have pain without facial swelling you can purchase painkillers from any chemist.
The ideal form of dentistry is preventative. Regular visits to the dentist, as advised by your dental team, along with a good home care regime, are recommended to ensure good oral hygiene is maintained. These regular visits can also detect oral health problems long before the onset of symptoms of serious dental problems, which could require costly treatment.
If a cavity is detected during a check-up, your dentist can provide a dental filling before it develops into a more serious problem. Dental fillings replace part of a tooth that has been lost because of decay, wear or accidental damage.

Your dentist will prepare the tooth for the filling; numbing the area, removing any decay, old fillings or weak areas of the tooth, shaping the hole so that the tooth holds the filling in place, then washing and drying the area by blowing water and air onto it.The filling is then placed into the tooth, and moulded into shape.
This depends on the number of teeth missing and on where they are in the mouth. The condition of the other teeth also affects the decision. There are two main ways to replace the missing teeth. The first is with a removable false tooth or teeth - a partial denture. The second is with a fixed bridge.

The staff are patient, efficient, they explain everything they do and they make sure you understand all your options. It was quick and painless. They also didn't mind that i was a few minutes late from being caught in terrible traffic. I definitely recommend it 5/5

Recently moved to Yeovil so not had time to register with a dentist had to phone 111 and they advised me to go to this dental practice .... the look of absolute shock and disgust on the receptionist face when I walked in so I explained the situation and she replied by saying ' do you realise this is a private practice and sent me on my way' with a phone number . Never have I felt so mortified. I think receptionists need to remember they have a duty of care to try and help people and not petend they are better than whoever may walk through the door !!! . I have no doubt the dentist's are more professional
