A traditional Coaching Inn since the early 16th Cent. The Angel, set in the very heart of the town's Thoroughfare, now serves as a hub for the town's folk to meet and enjoy not only its welcoming atmosphere but a wide variety of refreshments and meals throughout the day. The seven individual, twin and double, first floor bedrooms are comfortably appointed and provide guests with all modern conveniences.
Whilst downstairs, there is a choice of bars, a light and airy courtyard and our very popular Cleone's Italian Restaurant, featuring a range of carefully prepared, great value, authentic dishes. See our restaurant pages for more details of our current lunch and dinner menus, our Italian Specials or our delivery menu.

Services
All bedrooms: four doubles & three twins are on the first floor, individual in character and have bathing facilities en-suite. All beds have pocket sprung mattresses and crisp white linen and there are blackout blinds to ensure a good night's sleep even in the Summer. For most of the rooms there is a full size bath with a powerful shower overhead, whilst three, one twin and two doubles have good sized walk-in showers only.
The hotel dates from the 15th Century and provides a characterful and quirky internal layout but this does make access a little awkward in places. The bars, courtyard and restaurant are all on ground level and we have specially made ramps for the odd small steps in order to facilitate the use of wheelchairs for these areas.
The Angel offers a choice of bars, the spacious Italian Restaurant and an airy, glazed courtyard allowing guests to relax in the atmosphere of their choosing. The front bar looks onto the Thoroughfare and is ideal for enjoying a bar meal or informal Italian meal whilst benefiting from a real fire during winter months.
We do expect to retain some loyal delivery customers beyond this date and will endeavour to look after requests as usual. In some respects this should be easier once the operation is running more comprehensively but there will be times when we will struggle to deliver to some addresses during peak times.
Our Italian Restaurant was conceived in 1995 and set out to offer carefully prepared, authentic Italian dishes including pastas, pizzas, meat, fish and vegetarian options. The imperative has always been to ensure consistent quality and great value so that our customers feel confident to drop in at any time, although bookings are advisable at key times.

Lovely warm welcome- I'd had a long stressful day at work and was made to feel very welcome and at home. Dinner was prompt and delicious even though the restaurant and bar were unexpectedly busy for a Tues evening. Breakfast was a highlight- chef made me the most delicious, fluffy cheese omelette. Such a lovely experience- I will definitely return.

Came here on the last night of our holiday. And we weren't disappointed. Absolutely gorgeous food! And my two fussy boys cleared their plates. The staff are fantastic. They went out of their way to get us a booking. And the chef even made my youngest a cheesy pasta that wasn't on the menu! Will definitely visit here next time we holiday in Suffolk. 🥰

Well! 🤔what went wrong this time! Took over an hour to get fed, no explanation of why we had to wait so long until we asked told be told kitchen was 'rammed', wouldn't been so bad if staff had been a bit attentive but didn't seem to care, asked the chap on the bar for a drink but that was to much trouble although he could serve another table?! someone did eventually come and ask us. finally go our food which was god but nothing special. Think you need to sort your customer service out! especially when we did spend £100 with you.
