David Barratt and Simon Canniford launched the company of Barratt & Canniford in 1986. Both men have a trade background in brickwork and carpentry providing them with an excellent foundation with which to start the company. With their enthusiasm and adherence to quality on contracts, the business soon grew throughout Devon and Somerset, maintaining a working distance of 25 miles from Taunton.

Contracts ranged from small domestic type extensions to large nursing homes and surgeries. Work also included schools and refurbishment for the local authorities Taunton Deane Borough Council and Somerset County Council. Barratt & Canniford Ltd winners of 3 building awards 2010 - 2011 now in their 25th year of business.

Haygrove Mill Report

A beautiful elliptical kitchen extension with a curved copper roof, all joinery was constructed by our own joinery department. The elliptical shaped roof was formed with individual timbers tapering to a point, the ceiling is also curved. Barratt & Canniford have carried out a number of projects for my clients over the years and I have always been impressed by their professional.

A complete facelift from a traditional style bungalow to a modern bespoke design. The works incorporated the bold standing porch and gallery with new stairs & internal refurbishment. I have been working with Barratt and Canniford for several years- more recently at a major refurbishment ( £2.2m ) of the Main Street of Somerton. This involved the retention of the facade and demolition of the existing construction behind to form top class retirement apartments and retail outlets at ground level. The works were not without problems but B and C impressed with a ‘can do’ attitude to overcome the issues and bringing the works to a satisfactory completion to a high standard.
My previous experience with B and C involved a multi million pound new build hotel and a major student

Unhelpful over the phone - wouldn't even talk about estimating costs on house I'm going to buy until I've bought it. How are you supposed to plan things with an attitude like that?
