Nicola Phillips Solicitors was established in 2008 by its founder and senior partner, Nicola Phillips. Our principal business ethos is to provide our clients with the best possible service with the minimum stress to them and at the same time to offer good value-for-money. To this end Nicola has assembled an experienced and able team, well-qualified to cover a wide range of legal services (see "Our Team" and "Our Services" below).
Another guiding principle is to make our clients feel very much at ease and undaunted by the buying/selling process. We take great pains to avoid confusing legal jargon and to explain legal issues clearly. Our new premises on Black Horse Way are very much in keeping with this welcoming and non-intimidatory principle.

Services
Make every effort not to use confusing legal jargon and to explain the practical significance of specific laws pertaining to your transaction. Stand out from the crowd as a fantastic modern law firm that you would entrust not only with your own legal transactions but those of your family and friends as well.
Always let your solicitor know what is happening throughout your transaction - for example: if you have agreed a completion date direct with the seller. If you have a timescale for your move, always let your solicitor know. It is also helpful to know your reasons as this can then be explained to the rest of the chain.
We recognise that getting around can be problematic for clients with a visual or mobility impairment, therefore, we can, by prior arrangement, visit you and take your instructions in the comfort of your own home.
Whilst much of our work involves Residential Conveyancing, we also operate departments dealing with the setting up and administration of Wills, Probate and Powers of Attorney; Employment Law including redundancy and compromise agreements. Please give us a call if you are unsure what type of service you require and we will talk you through it.

Over the years I have forged some great alliances with local businesses as their preferred partner for Conveyancing, Wills, Probate, Powers of Attorney and Employment Law to our clients' benefit. Aside from a professional, fast and sensitive service, we can offer special partner rates and added legal resources for your company.
There will also be the usual conveyancing disbursments and additional costs for a sale and purchase as below. Office Copies from the Land Registry - 6.00 Plus additional fees if we have to apply for transfers which are referred to in the title or a copy of a lease in leasehold cases.
Stamp Duty - This will depend how much you are purchasing for, see table below and there are also different rates for first time buyers or those who already own a property and are purchasing another one.Stamp Duty Admin Fee - 75 plus vat - This is our fee for dealing with the stamp duty submission form.

Recently used this company for conveyancing on a house we were selling.
When we first contacted Nicola she was very quick to respond to every email and replied within 24 hours which it states on the website however, once we signed up and paid the deposit contact stopped.
Every email was ignored and it was only when copied Kevin in did we get a response.
They do not get involved in sale and all communication is done through estate agent. Was charged extra for exchanging and completing on the same day as it states in their fees but at no point was I contacted by the conveyancer to confirm we wanted

Recently I tried to transfer the ownership of my property. The initial email correspondence was quick and seemed professional. The follow on was terrible. I was sent a bunch of documents via email without any instructions. The quality of the documents itself was a red flag, total amateur hour. In the initial correspondence I provided this firm with all the information they needed from me. They did nothing with it, I was supposed to just do their work and fill in all the forms. The price tag was high and for that I expected a professional service, but did not receive one. I'd stay clear from this

Avoid at all costs!
We engaged Nicola Phillips for conveyancing purposes. She consistently failed to respond to emails and phone messages and in desperation we even contacted the Solicitor’s Regulatory Authority to establish whether in fact she was still trading.
Having raised our concerns in a legitimate complaint, we were dismayed that she even failed to follow her own Complaints Procedure.
Nicola Phillips sets very low standards and consistently fails to meet them.

I am responding to the review by Jo Fisher. Whilst I am sorry to hear that you could not get hold of us, the was good reason to charge the extra fees that we charged and all extra fees which may be charged were set out in our initial estimate of fees so we were up front about our fees to the client. Please to hear your comments in relation to Kevin and glad it ended well for you.

I used this company for a very simple transfer that was court ordered so no contention. It costs me twice the quoted price which was a bit of a shock.
Now I am in a situation where I have paid and they are saying the work is complete, I have been chasing for 3 weeks and my calls are met with irritation, terrible service.
Spoke to my mortgage company and they are saying that they are waiting for my solicitor to write to say they have completed the work, just going round in circles.
In the meantime my ex-husband quite rightfully is annoyed he is not off the mortgage and is taking me back to court

I used Nicola Philips for my first house purchase in December 2017. I dealt with Kevin and could not recommend him enough. We completed in just over 5 weeks from the initial offer as we wanted to be in by Christmas. Kevin was great at chasing the other solicitors to ensure a speedy competeion. I will use them again and recommend them to others.

Having moved house several times, the stress of it all too vivid, I can highly recommend the entirely pain-free experience I had when selling and buying recently: the level of service - communication in particular - was fantastic!; I knew what was happening every step of the way receiving regular updates by phone and email (even at weekends!). I even got tips on planning the move which saved me a packet... Brilliant!
