Equine Dental Clinic
EDC is Europe's first and largest specialist veterinary practice dedicated to equine dentistry. We are a true centre of excellence for equine dentistry offering routine, advanced and specialist referral equine dentistry services.

EDC currently operates with three veterinary surgeons including Chris Pearce and Nicole du Toit, both European and RCVS Recognised Specialists in equine dentistry, Nicky Brooks and Sam Baker, our resident in equine dentistry based at our regional branch in the NW.All our vets are highly experienced equine vets, with specialist training and years of experience in equine dentistry.
Services
We provide a modern competitive equine dentistry service with treatments carried out at our own purpose built clinic in Dorset, or at various other equine practices and facilities throughout the UK. At EDC we offer training and education for vets and EDTs through our own unique set of 'Key Skills CPD Courses', bespoke equine dental CPD in your own practice, and at courses and conferences around the world.
Routine dentistry is of paramount importance to maintain the health of your horse's mouth. Good dental care should be primarily about preventative care, as with human dentistry. Problems should be identified at routine dental appointments ideally well in advance of development of symptoms.

Unfortunately, many developing dental problems, even some quite severe ones appear to be symptomless as the horse 'copes' by adjusting eating patterns and disguising any discomfort. Each dental visit is your horse's one opportunity for 6-12 months to have the mouth and teeth examined really thoroughly for such developing problems - so you need to make sure it is done properly.
Before making the decision to purchase a horse, whether a child's pony, a breeding stallion or a performance horse, we highly recommend a five stage pre-purchase examination. The standard BEVA pre-purchase examination certificate in the UK states 'a detailed examination of the mouth has not been performed'.
EDC Key Skills Courses provide the foundations for everyday routine dentistry to challenging extraction techniques, basic endodontic therapies and standing surgeries. The courses run over 3 days with small group practical tuition and discussion sessions with Diplomate level experienced tutors, the focus being on practical sessions.
The clinic is in a quiet rural location which means we are able to perform intricate dental procedures in peace and quiet. We have parking in the yard with a field opposite for larger lorries, a reception area with seating, offices, pharmacy, lavatory, and spacious clinic area with stocks.

The clinic has 3 large wall-mounted television monitors (one in reception mirroring the clinic) to allow us to visualise oral procedures in high quality enlarged view, which also means clients have an immersive experience helping them to understand the nature of the problem and treatment performed.

The service provided by the highly skilled Equine Dental Clinic is second to none. You know you’re getting the best dental treatment in the country!
Horses are sedated and thorough examinations take place. My mini Shetland had her routine check and a hole was discovered. This could have been easily missed, if the pony was not sedated and stood still. She went into the clinic yesterday. After X-rays to determine whether a filling or tooth removal should happen, it was good news to hear it was only a filling.
Due to Covid-19 I was unable to be there and watch what was happening, but I was kept

I cannot reccomenend the clinic enough. The team offer the highest quality service to your horse and are kind and caring to both horse and customer. My pony's dental issues were identified by Victoria Hammond EDT who I also highly reccomenend. Victoria referred us straight to the clinic. Sadly the large diastema was not identified to me by our general vet which led to an extraction and nasty nasal infection. I can't thank the clinic or EDT enough.

Thank you to Chris Pearce and his team for helping my horse. He had suffered contact, behaviour and weight issues. Although he had regularly had his teeth rasped by a local vet nothing had been noticed or commented on. Upon camera investigation by Chris it showed he had a deep cavity requiring a filling. What a transformation! Happy horse! happy owner! happy rider! Highly recommend Chris and his staff.
