Paul Fitzsimons graduated from the Faculty of Law at Queen's University in Belfast in 1983 and completed his post graduate professional accreditations at the IPLS (QUB) in 1984. He was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 1984. He commenced practice on his own account in 1987 and Martin Mallon joined with Paul in partnership in 1991.
Fitzsimons Mallon sued Habitat for Humanity for clients' accident in Kenya during voluntary work without appropriate health and safety standards in place. Client 1 received 250k damages and client 2 received 60k damages. Case very complex involving consideration of Kenyan Law, and issue of proceedings in the jurisdiction of Kenya, the United States and /or Northern Ireland.
815k damages for client walking in dark clothes on an unlit country road herding cattle back into fields from which they had escaped when client knocked down by oncoming car. Damages awarded at 1.8 million reduced by 50% at Court for contributory negligence. Significant brain injury. Complex case involving complex consideration of life expectancy arising from Plaintiff's exposure to Huntington's Chorea.

I had begun to explain what is a slightly complex and multifaceted case, was almost immediately interrupted whilst summarising the first aspect, was asked to discuss a completely different aspect before I had got even 10% of the way through the first aspect, was completely misunderstood, and within a couple of seconds was told they couldn't help and the call ended. I was taken aback but am glad in a way, because a solicitor in my book should take time to understand the matter at hand before judging. If this Solicitor had taken a few minutes he could have understood. This call lasted 4 minutes from
