Hiya, my name is Jess and I love yarn! My Nana taught me to knit as a youngster in Oregon, and there was no stopping me after I learned the basics. I'm very fortunate to have been able to take something I feel so passionate about, and turn it into a career. I love being surrounded by rainbows of natural fibres and working with my hands.
The online shop is also open for business! And we have just set up a virtual YARN CONCIERGE SERVICE if you need a bit of extra assistance. I would be delighted to help! The shop is easily reached by walking from city centre or via public transport. The following buses stop right outside the shop or a very short walk: 1, 4, 5, 19, 26, 34, 35, 44, and 45.
The front door entrance is secure, so you will need to buzz reception to be let in. The workshop space is located in Studio 4.26. When you arrive for your workshop, please sign in at reception, and then head up to the 4th floor (lifts are available). Please note that workshops do not include materials.
Do you need a bit of extra assistance choosing the perfect yarn for your project? Or are you just getting started with knitting or crochet and need a bit more guidance? Book in for a special one-to-one virtual shopping experience with Jess to discuss your woolly needs! All funds paid for this booking will be put towards any purchases you make on the day.

While spending a few weeks in Edinburgh, I stumbled upon Ginger Twist and I could not be more thankful. I was in need of a new knitting project, and I took it as a sign that I should finally attempt a sweater, my first one. I could not have felt more supported along my journey. The wonderful woman at the store helped me pick out yarn and a pattern, and she not only answered my questions on that first day and pointed me in the right direction, but she also helped me a few days later when I came in with my partially done project and a list of questions. She was so kind, supportive, and knowledgeable

A teeny shop, but one with so much variety! I absolutely loved visiting this little shop and browsing their range of wool. From high end, hand dyed wool to more inexpensive varieties, you can get lost in this store for ages. Plus, the staff are absolutely wonderful.
This was my first visit, but certainly won’t be my last.

I've been into this shop a few times in the last month and had the most amazing experience the lady who owns the shop is absolutely lovely and very helpful. As for the wool if you pick any of the shops own hand dyed collection you won't want to crochet or knit with anything else, the colours are unique and beautiful and the wool is super soft! I will be back after every finished project 😊

I am amazed at how much YARN Jess can fit in her store. We were visiting Scotland for a wedding and I wanted to make sure we hit up some yarn stores while we were on this side of the pond. I stopped by three yarn stores and this was by far my favorite.
The shop is small - no more than 3 people can comfortably fit in there, but it packs a ton of fun! The yarns are hand dyed and amazing. If you find something in a color that you like but can't find the specific yarn, Jess knows exactly where everything is. I left with no less than 10 skeins of yarn and wish I had bought more.

A more perfectly formed yarn shop can not possibly exist! Everything about Ginger Twist Studio is carefully thought out to maximise the space in the tiny little shop.
The owner, Jess, dyes her own yarn by hand, and her waterfall of 'Ginger's Hand Dyed' is a sight to behold, almost every colour you could imagine is on the wall and it's a real challenge not to bring one home every time you visit!
Not only hand dyed, there is a range of yarns, patterns, needles and notions to suit all budgets and abilities. Jess is always happy to answer questions, make suggestions, or put the

My 1000th review is well fit for a lovely, unique, and local shop. (So Yelp-y!)
I learned about Ginger Twist from the owner of another lovely local knit shop this past summer, but was unable to visit until my next Edinburgh visit. Just after Christmas, I stopped in with my husband and found this charming shop! It's minute - more like a walk-in closet than what would normally be a shop - but it's sweet. I feel it's a good sign when the owner is sitting there, knitting and having cake with friends (and didn't make us feel excluded through this either).
The selection isn&apos

I popped into this tiny shop when I was in Edinburgh for the day. I don't actually know how to knit so I didn't buy any yarn, but there was a great selection of beautiful colors and pretty little buttons. The owner was very sweet and friendly. If I lived in Edinburgh and hadn't just been in town to drop off a visa application to leave Scotland I might have signed up for some knitting classes!
