Introducing a new approach to teaching the art of ballet; fusing the rigour of the renowned Russian Vaganova system with the inclusive methods of the British Ballet Organisation. Offering classes from Primary through to Advanced level, our school seeks to bring the very best out of all its students, while enjoying their learning journey.
We believe that these high-expectations can only be met by having high teaching standards. Our principal Miss Anya, is an award-winning teacher and former professional dancer, who has over 20 years of dance experience with extensive pedagogic training. All of our teaching staff share a professional dance background, many have performed in the most demanding principal roles ballet has to offer.

Services
Things moved on surprisingly quickly and the school grew at a dramatic pace to become a full-time venture. Within a few months of opening, Skylark School of Dance was established enough to join the Churchill Theatre's Creative Learning department (offering fantastic development opportunities to students) and now offers multiple classes per week, with a dedicated support team and growing every day.
Londoner Sophie Rose started dancing at a young age, gaining her RAD & ISTD dance credentials in Bromley. She continued to pursue her passion for dance by gaining a place at the prestigious London Studio Centre, where she successfully graduated with a BA (Hons) in Theatre Dance. She has performed in many London theatres, including The Peacock and New Wimbledon, credits included: 'Unexpected Tales' and 'Alice in Wonderland'.
Born in Japan, Nobue trained at one of her homeland's finest ballet schools - the Tani Momoko Ballet Studio. At 21, she moved to London to continue her dance education with the world-famous Rambert Ballet School, refining her expertise across ballet and contemporary dance. Nobue continued on with the Rambert company after graduation.
Tatiana was born in Moscow, Russia and has lived in London for over 15 years. She holds a degree in Finance and a CPA qualification. Tatiana had a successful career in finance, but stopped working full-time after the birth of her second child. Her true passion was always in the arts and, since joining the Skylark team as School Manager, she's brought her extensive knowledge, experience and passion to the role and helped the school thrive.
Our Classical Ballet syllabus runs from Pre-Primary up to an Advanced level of expertise. The syllabus is designed to nurture and encourage dancers to appreciate the enjoyment of movement, develop flexibility and strength, in harmony with the whole body. The syllabus levels gradually increase in technical ability, grace and charm, the basis of all great dance.

We love Skylark, Sophia has enjoyed many classes in ballet and contemporary dance and can’t wait to join the Musical Theatre and Street dance classes soon. Anya, the founder is an inspiring dancer and teacher for the children, and she gets involved in their progress to make sure they enjoy and excel. Anya is a real professional and so passionate about dance and about her students.

Having been a professional dancer myself...loooooong ago (taught under Christine Beckley from the Royal Ballet School) I am hard to please and have since been looking for a suitable dance school for myself and my children (ages 2 and 5). We tried out so many locally and I just wasn't impressed, until I stumbled upon Skylark.
Apart from the entire team being so approachable, welcoming and professional, Miss Anya (who runs the school) does not mess about when it comes to standards.Their approach is an amalgamation of the Vaganova system originating from Russia with the British Ballet Organisation

My two daughters have been attending ballet classes with Skylark since early 2020. They are in Primary and Grade 4. Ms Anya and her team are highly professional, experienced, committed, very passionate and supportive to each child. My younger daughter loves the class and stickers she gets in her Ballet book after each session. My older one progressed and excelled so much in one year that she auditioned for BBO Junior Scholar and Royal Ballet Junior Associates, and to her delight she got offered a place with Royal Ballet School for Junior Associates. Her teacher Ms Anya went an extra mile to guide

Our daughter has been going to this school since it opened in its new premises. The school caters for children and adults. Classes are available in ballet, tap, PBT, contemporary, musical theatre & choir. The school follows the BBO (British Ballet Organization) syllabus, with ballet as its core discipline.
All the classes are led by trained and experienced tutors that provide a safe and inclusive environment. Classes are reasonably priced and the staff are warm and welcoming. It’s worth noting that these premises are a fully equipped dance studio and not just a church hall, capable of holding

It’s our second year with Skylark school of Dance and my daughter absolutely loves it. All the teachers are amazing, very encouraging, friendly and really care about the children. An extremely professional school with a great balance between fun and discipline and I personally love the end of term open lessons, so parents can see what the children are learning and end of the year summer performances!

Excellent ballet school that my daughter attends (pre-school age). The method of teaching allows them to dance and have fun, whilst at the same time learning the methods of ballet. The other part that I quite like about the school is the teachers are strict but not overtly so...as in....other schools that my daughter used to attend they pretty much just danced around and chatted. Here they have to focus on the lesson, which is incredible considering the age of the children.
