Ian markwick's mission is to bring skills, expertise and enthusiasm to drivers across the UK. At Ian Markwick Driver Training we know modern LGV (HGV) fleet operators need suitably skilled drivers to protect the investment in their vehicles and to perform a safe, efficient, courteous and professional job.
The combination of modern, full size, clean and well-maintained Scania training vehicles and an instructor, who is qualified to be on the National Register of LGV Instructors, gives trainees the best possible environment in which to learn their skills.

Services
Ian is very passionate about teaching his pupils best practice - so you're in good hands!. In over thirty years of being involved with transport and logistics for freight and passenger, I have seen many sides of the business. In my lorry driving days, I was involved with farm produce, animal feed, liquid tankers, horses, fresh & frozen food, low-loaders, vehicle MOT preparation and presenting them for the annual test.
You can go to any doctor for this but we recommend Cotswold Medicals, who charge less than most GPs and have locations up and down the country. If you are local to Nottingham, then I can also recommend Dr M Clamp on 07802 850084, who is based in Colwick and is absolutely brilliant.
You can apply for a hard copy of the licence application forms from the DVLA (regrettably, they are not available to be downloaded) however, it can take a few weeks for the DVLA to post them out.I have a supply of licence application packs and I will gladly put one in the very next post to you if you complete your details here.

It is a requirement of the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) that an L.G.V. test candidate has passed the relevant theory test before they can take the practical test. If you are taking the driver CPC course alongside your LGV/HGV licence then you will need to apply for, and pass two separate theory tests.
Your instructor will give a demonstration drive and then it's your turn behind the wheel. The route will start in a quiet area and as long as you are doing well, will continue taking in single carriageways, dual carriageways and built up areas. I will be able to assess your driving and recommend the correct amount of training to you before you commit you and your money to a "set duration" practical training course.
Training with Ian Markwick Driver training is carried using industry specification Scania Large Goods Vehicles. This ensures that you are properly prepared to drive a vehicle that you have the entitlement to drive once you have passed your LGV driving test.
Your training course can be arranged to run on dates that suit your current home and work commitments, however, you will need to be available for the whole duration of your course, giving you the energy to focus on learning to drive a lorry and not worrying about going to work after your training day.If you are available immediately, then we can look for the earliest course available which might be that very same week!

I did a driving assessment with Ian, which included a brief demonstration followed by an hours drive to get a feel for the vehicle. Ian is very knowledgeable and a great trainer who has a lot of patience which makes you feel very relaxed. Thanks again, look forward to booking in for my training course.

This has to have been one of the best training courses I have been on. Super hard work during the first couple of days, trying to lose poor driving habits, while at the same time learning new skills.
A great course design, splitting up the 5 days with the weekend in the middle to take in what you learnt on days 1&2 - in fact I used my weekend to practise those skills.
Plenty of time on days 3 & 4 to polish up things before test day.
Ian really pushed me hard into situations where I never thought it possible to take a truck.
Ian has the patience of a saint & an awesome sense of humour. The training

Professional training standards. What I've found with Ian is that he wants you to not only pass your test, but after acknowledging the weakness somewhere in your driving habits, he gets hard and strict on fixing them. Basically when you finish the course with him he correct and polish your driving skills and make sure you not only pass your test but he tries to change your bad driving habits. Which is awesome. 👍👍.

Ian, is such a friendly and down to earth man. Really puts you at ease when on lessons. He is patient and gives constructive advice. I have enjoyed my time spent with him, in such a laid back environment where I was learning new skills yet laughing along the way. I would definitely recommend Ian to anyone wishing to further their career and be a lorry driver.
Thank you Ian
