Positive Bookkeeping

I started doing finance and accounts as soon as I left college in 1983 and worked for various SME businesses until 2001. I left NSK in 2003 and started Positive Bookkeeping Ltd as I wanted to help small businesses. From 2003 to 2005 I worked from home using Sage as my accounts package and slowly grew the business.

Many business owners believe they are saving money by doing their own bookkeeping - normally on an Excel spreadsheet or something similar. However, if the business owner concentrates on what they are good at their rate per hour will be significantly higher than what a bookkeeper costs - it's not just about the money, we can all make more money, the one thing we cannot make more of is time.

The main benefit to hiring a bookkeeper is that it frees you up to concentrate on your business as your bookkeeper takes care of all your monthly transactions, budgets, pays bills and really anything relating to ongoing financial. Bookkeepers costs for the year are often almost wiped out by the tax savings their bookkeeper discovers for them.
