Services
Shaun has over 29 years of experience tuning and servicing pianos having started his career as a 17 year old at Middletons Organs where he learnt basic maintenance and repair under owner Roy Havercroft. Shaun received an education at Newark Technical College on the piano tuning, maintenance & repair course where he gained City and Guilds qualifications in tuning, toning, repair and reconditioning in 1988.
Shaun offers competitive rates from a basic tuning to a complete restring, tuning pin replacement and action recondition. Prices apply within a 30 mile radius of the postcode; DN16 3AA. A basic tuning starts at 65.00 depending on the age and condition. If the piano is below international standard pitch (A440 Hz) it would need a second tuning, this would be an extra 25, both these tunings would be done in one visit.
Ideally a piano should be tuned every six months although with modern pianos which get moderate use a yearly tuning is acceptable. A brand new piano usually takes a few years (7-10) to "bed in" (or for its inner tensions to reach an equilibrium) and therefore would require tuning more often; about once every seven months with moderate use.
I just wanted to thank you again for tuning my piano, for getting rid of the extra resonating noise caused by what turned out to be loose beading and lifting out all the keys so that the 30+ years of dust etc. could be cleaned out and the keys cleaned. It was so nice to sit down and have a good long session without any of those little niggles.
