The Sturminster Newton Boxing and Fitness Club was set up in 2001 by Shaun Weeks. We endeavour through the Olympic sport of amateur boxing to promote fitness, discipline, friendship, fair play, respect and confidence, increasing quality of life by providing a constructive alternative to anti-social behaviour such as drug and alcohol abuse for the local youth living in Dorset.

We also provide positive role models and social inclusion through interaction with our coaching staff and other young boxers. So far the boxing club has produced 36 Western Counties champions, 12 semi Finalists and now 2 National champions. We have a full committee and currently have four qualified coaches at the club all of whom have to attend certification courses every three years to maintain the highest degree of competency at every level.
Services
Funbox is a structured session teaching the basic skills of boxing without any physical contact (no punching each other) Carried out in a fun and friendly environment the youngsters undergo some physical tests one per week i.e 5 press ups one week, 5 sit ups the next etc as part of the programme working towards gaining at first their FUNBOX Bronze award.
