Oxfordshire Sport Flying have a dedicated team of flying and motorgliding instructors to help you make the most of your flying training or trial lesson. John's introduction to aviation came with the Air Cadets and flying at RAF Cosford. He read Civil Engineering at University and soon joined their gliding club.
So you're looking to learn to fly but just for fun, as a recreational pilot, with upto 3 friends or on your own? Then you may find training and taking your test for the EASA LAPL licence (European Aviation Safety Agency Light Aircraft Pilot's Licence) is your best option. Instead of a minimum of 45 hours training for the full PPL(A) you only need do a minimum of 30 hours flight training.
Did you know that if you're a qualified Glider Pilot holding a LAPL(S) Glider Pilots licence you could be qualified to fly a powered aircraft in as little as 6 hours of flight instruction? You can purchase additional equipment directly from us that's required to help you build your skills and pass your flying test.
The aim of the training course is to operate safely and proficiently the TMG under normal, abnormal and emergency operations. All TMG training and Skills Tests are done in house with Oxfordshire sport flying instructors and examiners. There are many reasons to learn to fly but for most people who would like to become a commercial pilot a Full Private Pilots Licence is an essential component to that journey. Obtaining a PPL(A) for aeroplanes will allow you to fly as pilot in command (PIC) of single engine aeroplanes or touring motor gliders, but not on a commercial basis (i.e for hire or reward).

I learned to fly with the team at OSF who made the whole process fantastically enjoyable. It was quite clear that they were invested in my training from day one, understood my needs and aspirations and were not simply trying to process me through the system like I feel some of the larger schools would do.
The large hard runway, quiet airspace, modern aircraft, reasonable prices and well maintained facilities all made for a perfect environment from which to take your first steps into aviation.
If you are thinking of learning, give these guys a visit, you won't regret it!

Absolutely amazing friendly flying club, I’ve been training there for my ppl and I couldn’t think of anywhere better the instructors are very good and helpful and are more than happy to take time to help you understand everything properly. If you looking to do just and taster day or your full license I would recommend you come down to OSF and give it a try.
