Liss Forest Ballet School
Principal Yolande Parkin won a scholarship to Elmhurst Ballet School and trained under the direction of Bridget Espinosa, gaining RAD Majors and attending Master classes with Dame Alicia Markova, Ronald Emblen, Terence Etheridge and Leslie Edwards. She performed professionally for 10 years, dancing in all styles with La Compagnia Di Operetta Italiana and Masque Dance Theatre (MDT).

Injury led her to pursue a new artistic career, culminating in Interior Designer, Fabric Manager and Buyer within a large Hampshire-based firm. After 12 years away from dance she returned. Previously trained in Cecchetti as a young child with Gillian Dawson (F.I.S.T.D. and Examiner), Yolande has gained the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing's highest teaching qualification of Fellowship (F.I.S.T.D.) plus Cecchetti Vocational exams to Adv2.

Enrico Cecchetti (1850 - 1928) was born in Rome. He trained under Lepri, a pupil of the great Carlo Blasis who codified the technique of classical ballet in 1820. Blasis' ideas were developed further by Cecchetti who grouped the classical vocabulary into six sets of exercises, one for each day of the working week.
I am often asked why some children are not put forward for exams at the same time as others of the same age. All children develop physically and cerebrally at very different rates - not always equalling these two points themselves - remember how diverse your child's development was from their friends' when babies!
Liss Forest Ballet School presents a biennial, professionally produced show in which all children take part. The Adult classes are also invited to take part. The school performs many events locally too. All our biennial shows are performed at the Liphook Millennium Centre. The Centre was built on a disused O.S.U.
Parking : There is a small drop-off car park outside, but invariably there are no spaces left especially when other events are going on. There is another car park on the left-hand side going from the Triangle Centre towards the village shops (opposite the carpet shop) - it's just a very short walk and reduces the risks for all.
