Mann's is one of the oldest music shops in Great Britain, and possibly the world, under the same ownership. It's currently run by Tim Mann, the great great grandson of the founder. They moved to their current location in 1891 and have been there ever since. They retailed the first iron framed pianos before the first world war for less than half the cost of a modern day tuning!

The service and depth of knowledge given by PHIL the guitar sales assistant was outstanding, nothing was too much trouble during our visit with my father in law,he purchased an acoustic AND an electric guitar plus amp and various bits and bobs. Bought my Guild M-20 guitar from this shop and couldn’t be happier with it. Friendly staff, good communication, and guitar was really well packaged up- price was also superb and better than anywhere. Recommend them to anyone- worth looking at their online shop over some of the larger retailers.

I ordered a guitar and bag. Before sending, and without me asking, the merchant actually double checked whether the guitar would fit in the bag. Turned out it was slightly too large so he called me and said he would replace the bag for one that was a better fit. That kind of attention to detail is absolutely stunning. And it arrived extremely quickly.

What a bunch of legends. After an awful experience at a rival piano seller the day before, Alex and Phil restored my faith in humanity. Bought a beautiful Yamaha Clavinova digital piano and they moved mountains to get it to us that very morning. Professional, friendly and all at a great price. My wife thinks I'm a hero for getting it sorted, but these guys deserve all the credit.

I was looking to buy a digital piano, saw it on the website and made an appointment to go in and see it on a Sunday. It was only me in the shop which was great with COVID. Jake and Alex were so helpful and knowledgable. They had the Roland I was interested in all set up ready for me to play and also showed me some other options and gave great advice. The shop has a great stock of Roland, Yamaha and Kawai pianos as well as guitars, accessories and music books.
I spent an hour in the shop playing various pianos and getting advice from Alex and Jake which was very relaxed, no pressure to buy. I had

Absolutely amazing service! Message this company out of hours and got a reply which was really helpful. They followed it up the next morning and arranged next day delivery for me. They are really interested in providing an outstanding service and given the best quality products are great prices. Mann's Music is one of the few successful independent stores in Colchester, with a prime site on the High Street. The shop is set across three floors, with guitars, drum kits, pianos, keyboards, music books and everything else for the musician. Staff are highly knowledgeable and are always happy to provide guidance and advice to musicians of all abilities. Pianos on the top floor can be tried out, although large groups may prove loud and unwelcome you have been warned! In all, the best music store in Colchester, with excellent staff and a broad array of instruments and accessories five stars

I find this a very convenient shop if you need to order music online as you don't have to travel there - they are very efficient in that whenever you order books they arrive within 24 hours - you can ring them but its just as easy to order them online - minimal postage and certainly cheaper than driving there
