Newcastle Cricket Club

Newcastle Cricket Club welcomes your involvement - as visitors, as members, as sports participants, as funders or as organisers and supporters of events. We're a new club, rebuilding fast thanks to the support for more than 150 volunteers and many hundreds of members.

The Jesmond Ground was founded more than 125 years ago; a two year campaign to ensure it stayed open resulted in 2006 in a new partnership between our club and the Royal Grammar School.Newcastle Cricket Club changed to become a social enterprise (a Community Interest Company) in 2015 following changes to the Government rules on CASCs, which bring financial benefits to sports sports clubs.

The large function room is perfect for a variety of events, with high quality catering offered. The function room seats 120 people, has a small stage area and can be fitted out beautifully. There is a kitchen off the side from which we can offer full catering and a small bar in the room. The room is also wheelchair accessible with a disabled toilet just outside.

Late in 2003 came the shock news that cricket could end at the ground. Changes to the funding of cricket meant that the leaseholders were no longer able to cover the costs of the Jesmond Ground. They told the Trust which owns the ground that they were giving notice to hand back the lease. Support came from all over the world.

6.30 till 8pm for U11s (School Years 2 to 6). Older children can attend if they have not played before. We have three teams, and our team manager/coach structure works well, giving a single point of contact and regular feedback.
