Early in the 1950s a group of children are being brought up in St Joseph's Convent and cared by the Nuns. Funds are low so the County Council have proposed an open day for prospective parent who would like to adopt a child. As the story unfolds you learn more about the children and how they came to be there. But as in most stories there is a twist of fate. A lovely little story about the fate of these children after the Second World War. Please phone 01935 414662 for Box Office.

The Swan Theatre Company is committed to developing the performing arts in Yeovil and performs six shows a year, providing a wide range of opportunities for our members to perform or work backstage. In addition the theatre is a venue which is used by other groups in the area. In addition to the six shows a year, from time to time, we present rehearsed readings and run workshops on technical and stage-related aspects.
Our directors know their plays and they guide actors, help with interpretation, characterisation, movement and projection. They have a vision. The set designers and lighting and sound engineers turn this vision into reality. We rehearse three nights a week for 6-7 weeks.
With 6 plays a year, we are always on the lookout for new directors with fresh ideas, and will provide mentoring and practical support to members willing to direct for the first time.We present a diverse range of high quality plays. In order to uphold our reputation, we keep our productions alive by welcoming new actors.

Members take part in productions, on stage or behind the scenes, in set construction, decoration, sound and lighting. The current annual membership is 20.00 for adults and 30 for a family (2 adults and any under-18s at the same address). The Swan 200 Club has been running for two years now and we still have room for new members.
We're always keen to attract new directors, and will provide coaching and support for those of you wanting to direct for the first time. Contact us now if you would be interested in directing a play for the 2022 -2023 season. The set builders turn the Designer's concept into reality. We always welcome help from volunteers who are happy to do a bit of carpentry or wield a paintbrush.
The FOH team are the people who the audience first meet. They carry out evacuation procedures, which are a condition of the Swan's public performance licence and have been agreed with SSDC and the Fire & Rescue Service. They require the Swan to provide three Front Of House staff plus two bar staff each night of every public performance as well as two coffee helpers.

Love this place! Unfortunately, because it is such an intimate space; covid restrictions couldve been a problem..but all seating was sensibly allocated..free bottles of water and the ability to just pop outside in the fresh air for 20 mins during the interval.
New air conditioning a bonus too!
Staff all amazing..

Excellent, small local theatre where first class amateur dramatic and professional productions are put on. The venue was originally a pub, called The Swan, which was owned by Bass the brewery. The near derelict premises were bought by Yeovil Damatic and Arts Society in 1967 and the members first converted the pub into a headquarters and practice space and then built the theatre. The acoustics are excellent, the seating tiered and comfortable and there is a licenced bar. We went to a National Theatre Live (NTLive) screening of The Lehman Trilogy. Superb!

Just seen Veronica’s Room and wanted to send massive congratulations to the whole cast and production team. What a play! And what a fine set of actors! And how spine-chilling was the ending! I was hugely impressed and would urge everyone to go and see this gripping psychological thriller if you can. Brilliant!...

An absolute must see, incredible acting by all the cast members . Within minutes you to are cast away on to the island yourself with the company of Caliban a savage and Deformed slave, Ariel an airy spirt and the survivors of the ship wreck. The cast captures the forgiveness and redemption of the human form perfectly. Well done cast and Ian White the director, Shakespeare would be proud x

Fabulous theatre and venue. Proud that my daughter has been a part of the Arcadia cast. Wonderful atmosphere and a great family feel. Very professional and the work behind the scenes with props..scenes...lighting and music is excellent. The Director Philip Turley has been superb and my daughter Lisha and I are extremely grateful for all the… training and support she has received to date. Also a special thank you to Ian White who has been a great encouragement to Lisha throughout. Thank you to Diane for altering Lisha's dresses also. Greatly appreciated.

It's a very small theatre but it hosts some great plays here. Not sure if they are all amateur dramatic groups, but all the plays i have seen here so far have been. The staff are warm and friendly. It had a small bar but also offers tea and biscuits because not everyone wants to drink alcohol before or in the interval if a show.

A great little theatre [only 136 seats] which puts on usually 6 performances a year as well as guest theatre groups. The Swan theatre company is completely amateur and all the work is done by the members. It produces a very varied repertoire and at aticket price [at the time of writing] of £8.50 is remarkably good value,
