MJT Crane Hire Ltd have been established since 2000 to accompany AB Tuckey now known as Tuckey's with transporting narrowboats by road where Arthur Tuckey moved the first steel boat made by Hancock and Lane 1969. After many years the company has a vast array of equipment from cranes crawler, all terrain cranes, lorries, tugs, dredgers excavators and even to the extent of aircraft winching equipment.
We are a sole contractor to C&RT with a 30 tonne crane boat - a 30 tonne crane built onto a 50f narrowboat. This was built at great expense this year to allow crane work and craft removal to take place at ease in previously inaccessible narrow locks. As we specialize in canal based work we do not have to hire in plant as we have excavators, jumpers, compactors, welders and much more plant at hand.

Services
MJT are the only company that have a 36 metric tonne crane custom built into a 50' narrowboat. This was built to the safety specifications given by the Canal & River Trust and structurally designed by navel engineers. The build was fabricated by Colecraft Engineering or Colecraft Boats as they are better know on the canals.
Replacing camden locks, soon to be shown on Sky TV discovery channel - How do they do that. This is the iconic camden lock gate change. The crane-boat was used for this job as the only access was from the main busy pedestrianised high street. This enabled the job to be carried out without any road/street closures and prevented any interruption to traffic.
