We are a long established sports club offering Cricket, Hockey, Squash and its exciting new derivative Racketball all for one subscription. Based in the community of Altrincham, South Manchester we are an open club that welcomes all abilities. Bowdon Club is a not for profit sports club that reinvests any surplus in our club facilities.
Members who are 18 years old and are up to date paying their subscription via the Go Cardless system will have preferential pricing on the purchase of alcoholic drinks. When you join us, we will find you a place to play competitive sport and will offer you the chance to maximise your potential and be matched against players of the same standard.

Services
With roots established in formation of a cricket club in 1856 we have grown to be a successful and vibrant club. We added Hockey in 1887 and latterly Squash and now Racketball. Based in South Manchester we are easily reached by Motorway, Train, Tram and Bus. Our facilities support the playing aspirations of approximately 1000 members.
Bowdon is not for profit' - all proceeds are reinvested back into the club, and our facilities are developed to achieve our vision and values. Over the past years we have invested significantly and developed our sports facilities to be ranked alongside the best in the UK. All home matches are played on our minor counties standard pitch which has a enviable setting.
We pleased to support for charities. We have provided support by donation or free use of our facilities to, Help for Heroes, Francis House Hospice and Stand Up to Cancer. We provide significant volunteer support for the Manchester Marathon. Our Bonfire Night is a significant fundraiser for the club and our 50th anniversary event was recognised by the Altrincham Court Leet for services to the community.
We have two bars. Our main club bar is the central hub of the whole Club, offering our members the opportunity to socialise with friends and family, enjoy a drink and take in the best sporting action. The Bar serves a full range of draught products, bottles, wines, spirits and soft drinks. The Club is supplied by Marstons Brewery and Reserve Wines and we are grateful for their support.
The response from our neighbours and other interested parties was generally very positive. We had 189 responses (140 from local Trafford residents) with only 6 objections. All this information is available in our Statement of Community Interest and Covering Letter.
You will see from the statement that we had very few objections but listened to the scale and scope of the objections and tailored some of the noise and light mitigation measures in response. In the course of consultation over a temporary extension to the planning permissions covering the use of the hockey pitch and lights, several neighbours commented on the safety aspects of the York Drive Exit from Bowdon Club.

Quieter than normal due to Covid but still plenty of outside activities keeping the younger folks active in body & mind. The club bar is shut under Tier 3 but as a whole with signage etc it's clear the club are taking everyone's health & safety extremely seriously. Definitely somewhere to go back to once things settle down. 👍

Second event we have had here and the staff were great, polite and well presented. The drinks were well priced and overall a very good experience. With the outdoor area although on our visit it was a little chilly it was still a great area to have our food barbecue/hog roast set up. Nice venue well kept, clean and tidy and very cosy. Suited us completely. Highly recommend if you are looking for a venue for a party or similar.
