Services
Plasterhawks are skilled damp proofing specialists; an established family run business with nearly 20 years' experience in the damp proofing and plastering industry. We believe in providing a professional, quality service for our customers that we can be proud of. We offer complete damp proofing solutions for a range of conditions including rising damp, penetrating damp and condensation.
Rising damp is when moisture is absorbed from the ground into the walls, by capillary action through the pores of the masonry seeking a means of evaporation. All new houses are built with a Damp proof course (DPC) which forms a barrier against the moisture rising.

Older houses however may have been built without a DPC or it may have deteriorated over time or changes to the building may have compromised the DPC, i.e. built up patios breaching the DPC.Garage buildings may have been converted without installing a DPC or maybe you are thinking about converting a garage and not sure if you need a DPC?
Penetrating damp is when rainwater is penetrating through brickwork, this can happen if the mortar in the brickwork has become brittle and loose or the bricks themselves have become very porous over time, defective guttering etc. This requires a different remedial treatment. A water repellent coating can be applied, this will allow the bricks to still breathe and repel water.
Mould needs moisture (clean water) to grow, it likes areas undisturbed, like corners, cupboards behind furniture. Small amount of mould - Clear area of clutter, improve air circulation and keep area clean with mould spray and use a moisture absorber, there are a lot of products available. A few examples below.
The PIV process involves drawing fresh air from outside into a fan located in the loft area. The air is filtered and tempered using the heat that naturally accumulates at the top of the house. It is then gently pushed into the home through a single, centrally located air diffuser, thus causing positive pressurisation.

Kevin did a great job of coving our bedroom, delighted! A tricky room too with wonky walls and a chimney breast!
