Mad Hatters Tea Rooms
Mad Hatters Tearoom & Bakery is a multi-award winning establishment stunningly located at the historic and unique building of The Rectory, 49 Bridge Street Row, within the city walls of Chester in Cheshire. With subtle English Tearoom eccentricity and a touch of 'Wonderland', visit Mad Hatters to enjoy our breakfasts, elevenses, light lunches, and Mad Hatters' specialty, Afternoon Tea.

As seen on ITV's 'Britains Best Bakery' 2014 and accompanying book, as well as the channel 4 series 'Heston's Great British Food' and Michel Roux Jr's 'Kitchen Impossible'. We have had to taken the heartbreaking to close our doors in Chester for the foreseeable future. All of our food is prepared using fresh ingredients, and every cake is made with love, by hand, in our onsite bakery.

First visit for coffee and cake. Definitely will return for a breakfast seeing the plates coming out of the kitchen.
Only thing that did do my head in is all the clocks at different times. But it adds to ambiance of the Alice in Wonderland theme. πŸ˜‚

Our first visit, which was for lunch with my parents and we were extremely impressed. The place was immaculate, staff very friendly and welcoming. Food was well cooked and presented. A steady flow of people arrived during our visit.
There was four of us on this visit and we had jacket potato with tuna, winter vegetable soup and blue cheese with bacon beefburgers.
The staff seemed willing to assist with any diet requests, as some other customers ordered drinks with different milk types such as coconut milk and this was not a problem.
After lunch we treated ourselves to their tempting cakes and

Great cafe, lovely staff, good service. Very nice food and massive scones. It has a fantastic outdoor area overlooking the river, and very dog friendly. We are very happy with this find.

What a find!! Beautiful setting along side the canal, so close could have dipped our toes in. Sat watching swans and their signets.Big outdoor seating area. Nice friendly staff with a good non pretentious menu - no sour dough or avocado in sight!! Nice home made cakes. Cannot fault it. The photos don’t do it justice. 10/10.
