I was lucky enough to have a Bristol Pilot Cutter called Merlin of Falmouth built by Dave Cockwell and his team of craftsmen. It took 2 years to complete the project and, 11 years later, she still delights me every time I see her. The workmanship is exemplary and Dave's sympathetic approach and attention to detail are a key factor in this. I am not easy to please, I know, but Cockwells delighted me - a prefect boat, on time, on budget and totally brilliant in every respect. I have been the delighted and proud owner of a Duchy 27 for three years. Our boat is perfect for lazy days afloat and is so good-looking it turns heads when on the water. We have had 3 boats ranging from 21ft to 40ft built by Cockwells and could not rate them more highly. Their attention to detail is meticulous whether building a custom tender or a semi production motor boat. They are already globally recognised for the quality of their product and customer service exceeded our high expectations. A visit to their modern production facilities or a conversation with their sales or design team instantly shows why this builder is in such demand.

Poor quality boats, poorly run company!
The majority of the workforce are unskilled “trainees” with a few reasonably skilled individuals coming behind to tidy up the slop... this way Cockwells can pay their employees peanuts and maximise on profits on their thrown together shoddy products.
It is a company run by an under qualified middle management team most of whom have barely been at the company more that a couple years. This is due to the fact that nobody stays with the company very long. Poor wages, long hours, and overtime expected to be completed with no extra remuneration, you’d
