Services
A small, but intimate & welcoming bistro in the renowned village of Porthgain - a unique & local experience After 16 frantic years we have reached our goal and building on the success of the Bistro and the ever popular Fish & Chip Days, we have decided now is the time to develop other interests - building a home, boat trips, etc and now want to simply alter the demands of such an intense and hectic lifestyle.
The emphasis of our menu is fresh local fish - however we always offer a meat and vegetarian choice. All our dishes are made 'in house', with two menus running alongside each other - Fish and Chip and A' la Carte. Rob catches lobster and crab throughout the year, and bass and mackerel during the summer months.
Porthgain is situated on the Pembrokeshire National Coast Path - Britain's only coastal National Park, and has a long and interesting industrial history. The mining began in earnest around 1890 and employed roughly 200 men and boys in its heyday. Slate was first quarried in 1841, and brought over from Abereiddy and was used principally for roofing.

We had a beautiful lunch here on Sunday. The portions are generous and the flavours were delicious! Locally caught fresh fish in a lovely batter, served with homemade chips tartar sauce & a lemon wedge. Some of the best fish & chips we have ever had. The staff were very polite & friendly, A real treat. Highly recommend this place. Thanks guys! it was brilliant,

The shed
The Shed sits at the end of the Harbour at Porthgain, Pembrokeshire with fantastic views of the Harbour and the Sea beyond.
It is a traditional 'Fish and Chip' shop but due to its proximity to the water, 'Fresh' Sea Food takes on a whole new meaning.
Unpretentious, simple but iconic. This small stone building is a completely honest little restaurant offering basic Fish and Chips with some clever additions.
Their web site boasts:

Following an excellent review by The Times UK. We booked a Sunday evening dinner via the online booking system which was a clear and straightforward process.
The meet and greet system was a good start and fuss free
We knew that we would be upstairs which was no problem.the food choices were quite extensive with choices to suit most people.
We shared the garlic prawns starter which must have come out of a furnace they were so hot
We had a full and a half portion of battered monkfish plus the usual
everything was exceptional including the service
This business along with most food venues we

Very fresh fish and chips restaurant with takeaway. It’s very popular, so book ahead for a table or expect to wait in line to eat your fish and chips in a box. It’s pricey- for takeout; but good value for eating in the restaurant despite the price difference. The curry sauce was pricey but amazing and not your typical chippy curry flavour. The sausage and chips was over priced though and didn’t feel good value. The starter was presented beautifully. So I was a little bit disappointed that the main didn’t have the same attention to detail.

Wow the food here is unbelievable seriously. Got a takeaway and ate it right on the harbour front was stunning. Had monkfish, chips, battered Welsh sausage and mushy peas aswell as scampi and chips, the seafood was just so tasty and the batter was perfect, homemade curry sauce was amazing really interesting flavour. So so fresh.

Pricey, but really excellent food and perfectly cooked. And what a great location/view! There is good parking just before the harbour, and lots of benches around. The cost was £24 for a large scampi and chips, a large hake and chips, and two cans of 7-up. Not too outrageous for a tourist area I guess - but I'd hate to have to keep paying that much if it was my local chippy. Still, I look forward to the next visit.
