We understand that finding support for a loved one with dementia isn't easy and choosing the right of level care can be a tough decision. We are Ivy House, a day centre based in central Eastbourne providing care and support for people diagnosed with dementia. We welcome funded and self-funded visitors.
We cater for all stages of dementia but with one single objective; to improve the quality of life for those with dementia and their families and carers. Our unique approach has proven results and, in many cases, home life can be continued for much longer than would otherwise be the case.

Having worked with many, many people seeking help for loved ones diagnosed with dementia over the years, the team at Ivy House wanted to create a space where people could access the help and support they need to cope with living with dementia. Our vision for the caf is to create an opportunity for people to talk with qualified and experienced professionals without having to make an appointment.

The first group is targeted at people who care or live with someone with dementia or memory loss and is facilitated by Jane Lowe. You are welcome to bring your loved one to this support group - they will have a chance to be in 'session' and get involved with some arts, crafts and singing while we offer you the support and network that you need.
Mum loves coming to The Ivy Club. She appreciates the care she receives, enjoys the friendly company and the fun she has there. It has made such a difference to her wellbeing and confidence and gives us peace of mind knowing that she's having such a caring and stimulating time. Thank you so much, Mum says "They are so lovely at the Ivy".
There is no prevention or cure for dementia so finding a way to live with it is essential. Ivy House are proud to have been a part of this Channel 4 commission in 2015 which shares the lives of four couples who have navigated life living with dementia and who used Ivy House for care. We remember the four wonderful husbands George, Derek, Vic and Mike who took part in this filming, may you rest in peace.
Ivy House is the dream of Jane Lowe who has been caring for people with dementia for more than 20 years. Concerned with the challenges of improving the quality of life for those living with dementia, Jane conceived the idea for Ivy House. Rejecting the notion that people with dementia are happy to sit in front of a television all day, Jane focussed on developing a space where they can thrive.

My wonderful mum has recently passed away. Though I will always be grateful to the staff at Ivy House. Mum was very shy and I had doubts that she would want to go. From day 1 she was so happy and I could always cheer her up when I told her it was Ivy House day. The staff are welcoming cheerful patient and they can't do enough for the clients and… their families. They specialise in dementia and sorted out many problems for me associated with dementia or anything that would make myself or mum's life better. From the laughter to the care, I will always be grateful in how they made my mum's

When a family member is diagnosed with Alzheimer's and Vascular Dementia it is a terrifying experience, not just for the person but for the whole family. We all felt frightened and lost and didn't feel the support was out there to help us. For me it was my Dad who was diagnosed, he was always such a strong, positive, determined man who loved to be… involved in so many things. The things he loved doing became more and more difficult for him and my Mum. My sister and I live away from Eastbourne and we were desperate to get them the help they deserved. After a recommendation from a local solicitors

The warmth and family feel was totally overwhelming. The staff are superb and this is clear to see as all the clients are happy and enjoying themselves . I was invited down to see what goes on and I was simply blown away . I loved my day there and I hope to return several more times . Well done to you all and by the way...... the tea is very nice there. Highly recommend.

Ivy House is an amazing centre where people feel safe, have great fun and blossom. I feel very fortunate to have found Ivy House.
My mum has been part of the Ivy House "family" for over 18 months. She is extremely happy for the two days she is there, and would like to live there if she could!
The team have enabled her to get her self esteem back, through encouraging her, and not seeing the disability of dementia.
Thank you for "seeing" my mum and also supporting me in our journey together.

My father loves coming to Ivy House not just for the activities but also for the social aspect and of course the fabulous staff. My father Godfrey feels safe as he is walked from the taxi right to the front door where he is met by the very friendly staff. The family cannot thank the staff enough for the support and care that they provide. Thank you!
