The Purbeck Shooting School Clubhouse is guaranteed to offer a relaxed convivial atmosphere. During opening hours the clubhouse caf offers a variety of snacks, which can be purchased whilst you are reviewing your scorecard. Tea, coffee and a selection of cold drinks are available along with delicious meals, freshly prepared.
In 1994 after working in the gun trade and teaching both in the field and at shooting schools, I was offered the opportunity to develop a new site in Dorset now known as Purbeck Shooting School. Graham's plans are to offer a complete service to the shooter. The interests of the customer are paramount, and includes, tuition, choosing of an appropriate gun when ready, and gun fitting.
Whilst under the supervision of the schools instructors, you are covered by the schools insurance. Under proper instruction you are shown how to hold the gun properly, for beginners and small people we use a lighter gun (perhaps 20 gauge). Low recoil subsonic cartridges are also available but reaction to recoil varies from person to person.
Whether you are a beginner, novice or experienced clay or game shooter, we can tailor your lessons to suit your requirements. We have a full range of equipment for clients to use. We specialise in taking beginners for their first ever shot, through too international standard. Teaching safety, shooting skills and etiquette.

I went clay pigeon shooting here with friends for the first time and was very impressed with the level of tuition. The instructors spent time with everyone to ensure they reached their full potential

Great experience with PSS. 10 of us visited for my birthday in May, most of us first timers. We were looked after by Steph and Colin , both of which were really helpful and great instructors. Kept us safe but a great laugh at the same time. Will definately go back..

I would say this place is average at best, the girls on the front desk a very polite and helpful, food in the cafe is ok but pricey, and the owner is quite possibly one of the rudest and most arrogant people I have had the misfortune of coming across. We were a group of three adults and a seven year old on one of the traps when he and two of his cronies came along and basically tried to hoard us out of the way, because he didn't want to wait like a normal civilised person would and we "obviously didn't know who he was" There are far better shoots than this place and I personally will never go back

Just enjoyed a second annual visit with a group of friends. I really like Purbeck as not only is it located in an area of oustanding natural beauty, the staggering choice of targets make this our 'go to' shooting ground and well worth the journey from London. Possibly the best venue in the country for our band of combined game and clay guns. Highly Recommended! Top Tip... Take plenty of cartridges and hire a Golf Buggy!
BTW, The Bridge Hotel at Ferndown is a great base for a Shooting Break, they are gun friendly very helpful and the rooms are clean and well presented.

The tuition was really good, but unfortunately old male clients take priority. New clients are not made to feel welcome and it is very much a man's world. The women are treated as though they shouldn't have the temerity to be there. It was a completely different experience going there without my brother. Very disappointing, I usually love shooting, but the atmosphere really ruined it for me. If you are a female client I'd find somewhere else to spend your money.

A great ground, lots of different sporting targets offering just about every presentation of clay including a high tower.Traps are automated for pay and play. Monthly FITASC and Sporting Registered shoots. Trap and skeet available too, Good food is on offer in the cafe. A great place to learn to shoot with several instructors and a dedicated teaching area also used for hen and stag parties. Well worth a visit and a great place to spend a day shooting.
