Cutting down a tree, or tree felling, is something that should always be left to professionals as it requires knowledge, skills and experience together with the right felling tools. There are many factors we have to take into consideration including any nearby structures, falling direction, wind, permissions and licencing, as well as the height and shape of the tree.
Tree pruning involves the maintenance of a tree in the colder months while the tree is dormant. Up to 20% of the wood should be removed each year to maintain a balanced tree. This controls the size and shape of the tree, removing branches that may be compromising its structural integrity, while also stimulating new growth and making it aesthetically pleasing.
Crown thinning is the selective removal of live branches to reduce crown density, usually up to 30 percent and the removal of dead or congested shoots. This involves removing inner branches in the crown region of a tree, particularly weak branches, reducing the amount of foliage in that area.
Crown thinning allows wind to pass through or into the pruned section of the crown, which can improve durability in a storm and sunlight penetration to the ground while making life uncomfortable for tree pests.Thinning is conducted on large or small trees for a number of reasons.

Crown reduction is when the height and or spread of a tree is reduced by selectively cutting back to smaller branches overall by removing branches evenly throughout the crown. This process also removes dangerous deadwood and crossing branches, reducing the chances of infection throughout the tree. Compared to topping, crown reduction helps maintain the form and structural integrity of the tree, helping to maintain its health.
After a tree is felled to ground level, the stump may need to be removed. This process involves using a machine to grind the stump until the stump and roots are destroyed. The stump may also be treated to prevent re-growth and restore the look of the area. A stump may need to be removed for a number of reasons.

WOW! Marcus of Three Kings is such a nice guy. He helped us so much in getting permission from the council to have trees lowered (and they didn't even belong to us but just took away our sunlight). He did a wonderful job, turned up on time, cleared away brilliantly and he is a pleasure to have around. If you are in the area, do not go to anyone else"! Thanks Marcus
