Services
Westcountry Stonemasons has been established for over 30 years. We specialise in conservation, restoration and new projects of varying sizes throughout the South West. A carefully chosen and highly skilled team of craftsmen use traditional skills to deliver the quality demanded when working with natural stone, protecting and maintaining the heritage and culture of our architecturally historic buildings.
This 18 month project focused on the conservation of the Grade II listed rectory to restore it to original condition as built in the 1850's. Masonry works included extensive repointing, repairs, re-build and pinning of stonework on the tracery windows and other areas of walling and refurbishment of several chimneys.
This project involved a series of repairs to the existing Grade 1 Listed church tower, including repointing and stonework repairs to various areas of the tower including cutting out and piecing in new stonework, mortar repairs, replacing corroding metalwork with new non-ferrous metalwork and pinning fractured stones.
Starting in 1996 we were involved with the stonework repairs and restoration within this historic former Naval victualling yard. Under various contracts with national building contractors and in direct contracts with the South West of England Regional Development Agency, we completed approximately 7 million worth of work on this site.
This sub-contract, undertaken for Midas Interiors raised particular challenges. For many years we have worked in busy high street locations, individual banks, building societies, retail stores, town halls etc. This contract was carried out on a rolling programme of work to 15 branches throughout Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and Somerset over a 5 month period.
