Buddhism is one of the 6 major religions in the UK. There are many different ways of being a Buddhist and of practising Buddhism. Buddhism offers many different techniques for learning about and gaining control of your own mind in order to become more compassionate and wise. Buddha says that all you have to know is what you are, how you exist.

Great place to relax and take some quiet time for your mental health and well being. Really kind, friendly and welcoming atmosphere. I recommend the mindfulness and meditation classes and the introduction to Buddhism course. They've really changed my outlook on life, the mind, and how to live. One thing I really took from the Intro to Buddhism course which for me was life changing, was that the one thing you can change in life is yourself, and how you react to life events challenging or difficult people around you. Reacting with kindness, empathy and understanding brings a calmer, more positive

I first walked through the doors about 3 years ago now and I’m so pleased I did. I’ve learnt so much more about Buddhism than I ever did from reading alone. The community is so fabulous and really welcoming. We’ve just moved this year from rented space on St Paul’s street and then York place in the city centre to our own premises for the first time at Clyde works in Holbeck. All the community and volunteers have been so generous with their time and donations and the downstairs area including a lovely cafe is now complete. The centre is a lovely place where you can sit and learn to meditate and be with yourself. It offers meditation sessions and classes on Buddhism during lunch hours and in the evenings during the week plus classes on weekends. If you plan to visit, check their website (jamyangleeds.co.uk) for meditation and class timetable as it isn't often all the time. Peace to all those who knock on the door of Jamyang Leeds.
