Barkdale provides a caring and attentive environment to make your dog's grooming experience a happy one. We are conveniently located in Hillside, near Formby and Southport. We do not use restraints, as we believe it causes more stress. Unlike many groomers, we work in group sessions, morning or afternoon, so in addition to their groom, dogs can play with their friends. This has many advantages, including dogs are more relaxed when they have friends to play with, and if a dog is feeling stressed during the groom, we can give him a break and come back to him later.

Services
We created Barkdale when we couldn't find a grooming salon where we were happy to leave our own dogs. We want grooming to be a stress-free experience where dogs are happy to come to the salon. Barkdale is completely open plan and we wash, dry and trim without harnesses or restraints. This helps to relieve any tension a dog might have.
Many things can be scary for a new puppy, but we want your puppy to look forward to coming to be groomed. The first session is really just to create a positive experience, to get them used to the new place, the noises and smells and being with other dogs. They go up on the grooming table and have a little brush, and if they are happy with it we will clean around their head, paws and hygiene areas.

5⭐️ One of a kind grooming spa, our Koda always comes out silky soft and smelling amazing. Love the idea of not having restraints and the fact it’s sessional grooming which means he looks forward to seeing all the other pups and it’s something he really enjoys. The staff are so friendly and look after him so well, couldn’t ask for more! 😊

First time coming here to get my dogs freshened up. My 4 month puppy just went it for a little puppy groom. He came out smelling fantastic and soooo fluffy. But they really did an AMAZING job on my labradoodle! His fur just looked and felt like velvet! He's strutting around the house now. Clearly feels great after his groom!

We really appreciate the hard work you have done to make grooming safe at the moment. We felt really comfortable with all the measures you have put in place with social distancing, masks, the gate system ect. And Peanut always looks so lovely afterwards and is much less stressed with you than any other groomer we have tried. Thank you so much!

Our puppy,Bonnie, thoroughly enjoyed her first puppy grooming day and was eager to go back for second visit. She looked really cute and we knew it had been a really positive experience for her and for us. Can’t wait for Barkdale to be open again. The girls were all really welcoming and relaxed which made it such a great play time for the pups.

Wonderful place to get your dog groomed, the appointments are for all morning or all afternoon so the dogs get to socialise and play. No tethers are used, the dogs just calmly sit or stand on the tables to be groomed. Lovely lovely staff, who obviously love the dogs by the way they handle them. Your dogs come out happy, smelling beautiful and looking like A lister stars! Wouldn't take my dogs anywhere else!

Lovely, kind, talented people who really care about all the dogs. They know how to do all the different specific cuts for all the breeds, and they groom the dogs without tethering them at all - even the most awkward of dogs!
My dogs love going there because it's like a social for them as the appointments are for either a whole morning or whole afternoon, so they get to play with all other dogs that are being groomed in the same booking. It's a beautifully clean and safe environment for them with a secure outside area if they want to run around or sit in the sun.
